My first track day was in the rain and it was fucking awesome.
I think it depends on conditions, my first day I'd describe as "damp everywhere" and it began drying in the afternoon which was perfect, but if it was more like "navigate the track of 1000 lakes" it might be a bit sketchy. How the track takes on water is a huge part of this so maybe some locals can comment on what to watch out for.

It all comes down to your personal level of confidence, leave your ego at home and with a good instructor you'll have a blast. Good luck.

I've had both kinds.

On the day where it was crazy rain my instructor got into the car and said something to the effect of "Stay away from the wall in turn 2 because I have no idea how deep the puddle is or how the car will react when you hit it."

The proper line on turn 2 is to be as tight as possible to the concrete wall on your left before you make the turn.

On the damp days it's funny to watch guys with slicks or near slicks try to drive their normal line and speed and get sideways.

Anyone else seeing a lot of damaged paint. I've seen paint removal along the leading edge of the fender but never on a flat vertical panel like this.

All the white spots are paint chips.

Could be kicked up rocks by the car in front of you?

Your build thread shows you are running 17x9 wheels? Stuff getting thrown up from the front tires maybe.

Yay for sure. Echoing other's sentiments, it'll provide instant "smoothness feedback"

I run 17x9s and get a ton of rubber streaks and dots there after track days, so I'd bet that is the case - the fronts throwing things at that panel while turning.

I use 17x8 wheels with 225 tires, and have maybe 50 track days on my car with 63k miles. Mine has chips there, but only ~20% as much as yours. Do you drive on a lot of gravel?

I run 17x9 255's with rally armor mudflaps and still get this. Track cars rarely stay pretty for long.

My car looks near the same.

Lots of chips in that area, as well as missing paint directly behind the front wheel. Guess I should have added mudflaps. Sometimes you need to listen to Dad. ahahah

Just stay in the lead! In AutoX I noticed a lot of rubber on that same side so it’s probably your front tires

I wear the rubber marks like a badge of honor. Also, I'm too lazy to polish them out.

I assumed that was the cause, I'm just surprised at the extent of it. Maybe I should go back to not washing my car.
