235/40-17 vs 225/45-17

Hey guys,

I have checked out the tire simulator on the site and just wanted to confirm something. I have a 17x8 35 offset wheel now and was looking at new tires. I am on trd lowering springs which bring it down close to an inch i've been told. What would fill the wheel gap better out of the two tire sizes and still maintain decent performance? From what I gathered on the simulator it looks like the 225 fills the gap better and there would be less rotational mass. Is that right?

I'm currently using the stock wheels which are streched just a tad.

Go with the 225. You get a lot more tire choices in that size too.

@STV3 225 because of the choices or overall fit and performance?

Both. It should fill the wheel gap a little better than a 235/40, and from what I've read on this forum, will out perform a 235 on this car.
