This thread will be done for me when I finish separating the block. I’ll make a new build thread in the Swaps subforum.

I was under the impression the rocker eject feature on the FA20 was totally random and not necessarily caused by over revs or oil pressure. I thought the rocker eject issue was mostly fixed mid 2014 though. |

It’s not related to the recall. 2014 and up engines have longer valves and deeper pockets in the rocker arms for the pivot. Mine was neither oil pressure or over rev. I think it’s mostly a geometry issue with the valve train Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So my rocker arms could have jolted loose when I took a switchback and some bumps with one big bump at the end. If they came loose at that time then you guys are saying I would have lost pressure instantly if the pivot came out (see below). FWIW, the pivots did not come out at all. In fact, they were completely seated in position.
https://www.ft86club.com/forums/show...10&postcount=4 Oh shit! I just realized I have this whole event on dash came video! I totally forgot! I’m going to go get it.

That’s wild the pivot stayed in place. Mine did a bunch of damage to the bore they sat in when it came out and got whacked by the cam lobe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My understanding on the springs is it was a production adjustment in mid 2013 to 2014, and the other valvetrain part numbers weren't changed until 2015 with the harness, sensors, etc. I double checked and you are correct, the part numbers were changed for 2014 and the other changes in 2015+. I've owned a '13 and a '16 but not in between, so not completely aware of the years beyond knowing about the differences being there. The valve spring recall contributes a lot to the higher failure rate in '13s, but the general design was still never significantly changed. Aftermarket valve springs can help better secure them (stronger), but obviously it does not prevent the problem. I agree with you, the design of them is flawed, and I would recommend running keepers for all year FA20's. |

But it was significantly changed. As already stated the geometry changed along with the oil hole in the pivot getting smaller which would create additional lift which in theory would keep the rockers in place better. |

I just ordered replacement hoses and the busted wiring loom from Harrop for $153, which isn’t bad. Those will come from Australia, so 3-6 weeks is when I will be able to post the supercharger for sale.
