Yuki broke his Tranny in two thus failing qualifying, does that count as reliability? How did Honda not detect this weakness in testing?

What if Lando would have had the balls to pass Max at the restart?
What if George made his attempted Bottas pass stick?

Great season after 2 races. Much anticipation for more drama.

My local race is 99% sure to be cancelled officially, only our (Usually anti-car)Eco friendly mayor is still putting her hopes up… Still holding on to 2 non refunded tickets from 2020…

Next up Portugal,…

Im a Honda driver for the past 44 yrs.. Go Honda!

Wasn't counting that incident

I believe he had some stuff swapped in practice at Bahrain.

I was pretty bullish on a RB WCC, but Perez needs to start getting on the podium for that to happen and they did have some reliability issues last year, that one might be pretty close.

My money is all in on Hamilton for an 8th, he's too damn consistently good at managing his race, and I do believe Merc are on the back foot this year, Red Bull expected a front row lockout last week but Max blew his quick lap and got beat by Hamilton and Lando, I expect a few more opportunities will slip through their fingers right into Hamiltons.

Hamilton is real good, don't get me wrong. But his super power is extreme good luck.

Consistent? He made a silly mistake trying to pass on slicks on the wettest part of the track and slid onto the gravel, but miraculously didn't hit anything or get stuck. Then, he drove forward straight into the wall and smashed his front wing, after which he reversed onto the track but didn't get a penalty. But!.... immediately after that the race was red-flagged so he got an ENTIRE LAP back and car fixed for free.

The only consistent thing I see is the ridiculous good luck...

You aren't mentioning the part where the race was red flagged because the guy who could have replaced him if he didn't get his contract in order just touched the grass trying to pass his teammate resulting in a wild cross track spin, and both cars being knocked out.

lol the hate is real

Perez and Ricciardo got the same red flag benefit to go swing for a podium, they couldn't do it.

You want luck how about Lando being nice enough to not pass Max when he spun under yellow.

Yes, some other drivers get lucky occasionally. Hamilton has consistent good luck. For example... The one race last year Mercedes pit crew couldn't do anything right was the one that Hamilton didn't drive in.

Pretty sure he would have rather had George’s race then miss one due to COVID.

But he missed it after he already had the title in hand. If you are going to miss one, that was the race to miss.

I don't think Hamilton's performance has anything to do with luck. Yes he made a mistake trying to pass on the wet, but mistakes are extremely rare for him. He manages his races from the car unlike almost every other driver. He consistently questions team strategy based on what he is seeing in the car.
Everybody always wants to find kinks in #1, but frankly Max has the better car now, he needs to get consistent with managing the race if he wants to beat Hamilton.

This is basically my point. Hamilton is a great driver even among F1 drivers, you don't get to be top dog in F1 without that. But, what really sets him apart from the other extremely good drivers is his exceptional good luck.
