To be sure, my professional opinion, buy an intake and exhaust. You know, to be thorogh and all.
hmm agree with the first part, should check all component for leaks and break that has to do with flowing air currents of sort. than replace or repair the parts that you spot broken or damaged so you won't waste money replacing things that are not necessary.

Cool! I thought you are going back to Texas because the location in your profile LOL.

Good luck in the finals!

Yes exactly! Now it happens while idle too, though not all the time.

Do you have any idea what is that sound?

Thanks for the info! I am planning to get an intake this summer.

I went through a lot of brands and had a hard time making a choice. Do you have suggestions? Ideally I would love to have most HP gain. Which brand is the best?

To be clear, that was a joke, I feel bad having to explain that. Most people have to explain their purchases or get "buy in" from a significant other. "Hey hun, my car is acting up and I need to buy a few parts to fix it." Excuse granted!

@the OP in regards to intakes that produce HP gains. Unless the intake is feeding some forced induction there is little to no gains to be had.

Yeah I know there could only be like 2-5 hp most, but still there are ones that are good and ones that are better, right?

I would purchase a new rubber intake hose like the Mishimoto. I just personally never liked that metered air was being used to pump sound into the cabin. especially on closed loop systems, if you notice, a lot of stock twins have very spotty tailpipes from the rich condition. Remove all the extra nonsense.

Oh, yes ........ simply put a K&N drop in filter into your car's stock air box......

Now, wasn't that easy ......

I mean, I don't quite understand the meaning of "rich" in here. Could you explain it a bit please? And how it could cause unburned fuel?
Sorry english is not my first language and I am kind of car noob here.

I'll butt in here .....

By "rich" they mean that the car is burning an AFR (air fuel ratio) that is heavy on the "fuel" part of the ratio.

In this case, a black, sooty deposit may show up on the tail pipe outlet.

Back-in-the-day, one could almost "measure" the AFR by looking at the inside of the tail pipe ....... if it was black, the engine was running rich, it was whitish, the engine was running "lean" ...... so, a light, smoke color deposit was "good".

The AFR could be changed by "adjusting" the carburetor(s) or the engine timing.

Today, I have no idea how the ECU (Engine Control Unit) alters the AFR.

However, someone in the know, will have to explain that to you ......

Well yes ....... but you still have "fun" with a oiled drop in (if you are old).

find and purchase the correct filter
find the air box
figure out how to open it up
unpackage the new filter
anguish over if it has enough oil or too much oil
now, which way does it go in ....... frontwards/backwards .... upside down/right side up
why won't the air box cover close ....
worry that it has too much oil and it will gum up the air flow sensor thing
not enough oil and it will let in dirt and the engine will grind itself up

take it for a drive

YES! AT least 3 more HP and 2 ft lbs of torque, measures on your butt dyno .........

All for $40.00 and 15 minutes of labor ..........

Time for a nap!
