If you haven't, already, @krimsonmedic look into an AR5 transmission. It's essentially, a more modern R154 found in a few GM vehicles. The bellhousings are interchangeable, as well as the JZX/R154 shifters. They're really popular in the IS300 community, especially since they are far less costly.

rather run a cd009 from a 350z so you can keep 6 speed and can hold up with big hp

Yes I am aware that FX is no longer with us.


The problem that the stock transmission does not hold the power a built motor, or medium boost and E85 stock block make.

I don't think there's a definite formula, I ran 471 wtq for years and never broke it, but I also very rarely launched it, never on slicks on the track.

Other people have broken it with about 350 wtq trashing it more, others have not trashed it much and have broken it at 400 wtq.... I just don't think there's a definitive proven limit, even stock car have grenanded transmissions.
