30° weather will not effect a battery at all. It's not until the temps get into the teens (to a battery, that's cold) that a battery will notice. That battery was going to go no matter what the temp was.

Hot weather damages a battery. Cold weather exposes a weak battery.

Hayyyyyyy ....... @guybo ...... you get the first humfrz of the year ......

@FX86 must be on vacation ....... I figured he would get the first smack.....

About temperature and batteries (according to the interweb):

"Battery capacity (how many amp-hours it can hold) is reduced as temperature goes down, and increased as temperature goes up. This is why your car battery dies on a cold winter morning, even though it worked fine the previous afternoon. If your batteries spend part of the year shivering in the cold, the reduced capacity has to be taken into account when sizing the system batteries. The standard rating for batteries is at room temperature - 25 degrees C (about 77 F). At approximately -22 degrees F (-27 C), battery AH capacity drops to 50%. At freezing, capacity is reduced by 20%. Capacity is increased at higher temperatures - at 122 degrees F, battery capacity would be about 12% higher."

Yes, it's a slow day in Puyallup ........ the temperature dropped below freezing ....... brrrrrrrr

Having worked on battery installation and doing jump starts for 10 years, I can tell you that the incidents of batteries needing to be jumped doesn't increase even into the 20's. Our company has stats on that.

Once again, reality trumps theory.

Well now, @guybo, allow me to refer you to any chemistry 101 textbook.

(to quote what you said, "30° weather will not effect a battery at all. It's not until the temps get into the teens (to a battery, that's cold) that a battery will notice.")

DANG, did you spend the WHOLE time in your chemistry class, flirting with the pretty girl beside you ..... ??

Now, if you haven't finished your homework assignment by the time I finish ma nap ....... the lesson will continue .......

I'm surprised to read the battery life expectations are so low. I thought OE batteries would go 5 years easy.

Battery life expectations up north are significantly longer than down south. Use, abuse and the temps where you live have a lot more to do with your battery life than the quality of the battery itself.

Heat kills batteries, so along the southern US batteries just don't last well.

Had my 2015 BRZ with OEM battery and just took it for its 30k service. They ended up finding the battery down to 290 from the 320 amps (correct me if im wrong) so the battery was replaced, under warranty

If your Keyfob's battery is drained there is a procedure to start the car. Just need to position the keyfob to make contact with the push button while pushing it and it will relay the signal to the immobilizer to allow the car to start up.
