Nitrous AFR
Okay yeah whatever no fast and furious here please. I have the NX kit WITH THE WINDOW SWITCH. Spraying a 50, The tune is the OFT tune with Timing retarded significantly and everything looks good IAM at 1 no knocking. My AFR is at 11.25 at WOT I know that this is slightly rich for NA but I bet its pretty bang on for nitrous.
Anyone have any experience? What AFR are you targeting at WOT? also please no trolls that think that this car was divinely created and that it is a sin to want more power. |

You have some room to lean it out some... 11.7-11.8 WOT AFR On the nitrous is still a safe bet (especially anything under 150 shot) . 12.0 is still within safety but wouldn't want to see anything above 12.3,12.5 for example.
You will probably gain 8-10 hp cleaning up the afr from where it's at now. If you don't have a bottle warmer get one! Ideal 900-950 psi makes a huge difference and can be another 5,10,15hp.

If anyone is curious on the tune let me know. I searched the forums and found very little on nitrous tuning advice. From my experience on shell 93 if you ran nitrous on 91 with no tune changes(like some are advising for a 50 shot) I can't imagine the engine lasting too long. Even the stock tune has lots of knock on 91. |

Traditionally / in the past with my cars I would use 94 Oct / 50shot no additional timing pulled from my NA tune or 1-2 at max (4 cylinder) This varies car to car of course, knowing total timing after calculations, compression ratio, timing etc plays a big roll. Always get the Air fuel desired where you want (Don't spray & pray) Always know what's going on with AFR / & total wot Timing after all calculations.
I haven't sprayed a FA20 yet so your caution is wise. Typically every 25 shot after that pull another 1-2 degrees out each time & start going colder range on the spark plug. 4,6, & 8 cylinders are all relative .. spraying a 50 shot on a 4 cylinder is like a 100 on a V8. 75 shot on a 4 banger is like a 150 on a V8 etc.. For rule of thumb purpose 100 shot on a V8 I would do the same 94 oct no timing pull or 1-2 degrees retard. Every 25 shot after that another 1-2 degrees pulled out (colder plugs too). Air fuel always being checked.. Check plugs on a regular basis too even with the 50 hit. Just talking as a car guy to apply something to the thread My 1.6 Fiesta (non st) I hit with a 50 shot, my old 07 FG2 Si I hit with a 50 shot as well weekly :P

If you can get away from 91 and use 93 in your area the extra cushion would not hurt at all!

thanks for sharing your experience. Seems to be about what most guys say about nitrous.
the Fa20 is fairly knocky though so I would definitely pull timing before spraying the first time. Also im on 93 but I was trying to caution people from running 91 without significant timing reduction. |

One more bottle down. No issues might be about time for a upgraded clutch though. I can feel that mine is starting to need replacing which is nothing new, and I have known this since before I installed the kit.
