UEL HEADER W/o tune
Hey guys quick question about UEL header.
So I'm currently boosted with @WORKS stage 2 carb turbo which is tuned using our stock EL headers. But I'm considering that subie rumble. Obviously switching out headers looses carb approval. The main problem is I like how the tune is working so would swapping from an EL to UEL WITHOUT re-tuning give me the rumble and not throw a CEL/compromise my current tune(how the car is currently running? I've searched a bit but none of the other car mentioned have a stage 2 turbo |

it will probably run a little off if you don't get it tuned for the UEL. I wouldn't risk running it long term without a re-tune specifically for the UEL. it might sound better to you with the rumble, but it probably isn't running optimally and might damage something in the long run. it will also probably turn on the CEL since the turbo kit was meant for the stock headers which mean the O2 sensors/cats were not deleted and are still present.

Definitly talk to works and your tuner. the P0420 cel code is an insignificant issue changing to a catless or high flow cat header with turbo will effect how the turbo spools/makes boost, this may significantly effect the tune required. It may make boost a lot quicker and the original tune may not suit resulting in significant knock or other issues. |

If you're losing carb then there's no reason to keep what looks like a laggy as fuck turbo.

Actually the turbo spool extremely quick putting down the throttle and the car just pulls hard. It can be felt almost right away which is why I want to keep it. The reason for the question is if I do need a smog check in the future I could just quickly put back the stock header to pass smoke without again a re re tune |

You can fail smog in CA on a visual check of non-OEM headers not containing a CARB sticker.
The AVCS timings will be for an EL, and on a UEL it will both run poorly and sound poorly. All around this is not a good plan; you will not be CARB legal and you will not get what you want out of the UEL header. |

Thanks for restating what I said about avoiding carb legal and thanks for the AVCS timing info. I'll most likely keep my header since I don't want to have to redo the tuning |
