Not sure, but not a fan of the off center position. I actually tried just taping on the license plate only, like I did for the previous 2 FRSes I had but there is curvature on the grill that makes it very difficult to do so.

Thanks, yes the color is Steel. The bracket is oem, you will find it in the truck (assuming dealer did not already installed it).

Swapped the oem mirror with a Gentax auto dim. Mirror was $86 on amazon and wire harness was $12 from local dealer (not required if slicing into car's wiring).

Looks like you had to do some re-wiring work to the harness you bought? Can you share details on that please? Thanks!

How does it hold the phone? Just using the same interface as the Catalyst? Or do you remove that for the phone mount? The more details you can share the better. And pictures of it exploded would be helpful.

Mirror comes with a wired connector, so what I did was took the oem harness, cut off the black connector and patched the mirror's connector to it. --Oem harness middle wire is ground, connects to the black wire of the mirror's connector. --Oem harness white wire is the switched 12v, connects to the red wire of the mirror's connector. The phone is held with the Catalyst interface. Its not a strong hold but it has only fell on me maybe once, since last spring. The trick is to make sure the phone's metal plate is on the outside so that it doesn't slip down. Or even a piece of tape will do. The catalyst is attached to the mount with the help of a random piece of plastic that was sanded with very rough sand paper to help with adhesion. --Catalyst to plastic, 3M double sided tape, the 30lb version. --plastic to phone mount, crazy glue. Sealed it off with some rtv, probably not needed but whatever. Wire management is just 3M double sided tape. |

Thank you. I tried using the Catalyst mount for my phone, too. It does work most of the time, but just didn't make me feel it was quite secure enough.

Ticked 300 miles off the break-in milage.
Installed an auto-dimming HomeLink mirror (Subaru part). Works nice. Stocked my Tic-Tac cubby with six classic peppermint pieces: |

Read the manual today and found an easter egg on page 107ish. The pin unlock feature is very cool.

I did another 400 miles today. I'm 60 miles short of 1000. Drove from Vancouver, WA to Yakima and return using non-freeway route. Getting really good at the 4k thing. Kinda good. Ok a B-minus for sure. Perfect weather and in the mid-40s except in a couple spots. My Prius tires didn't kill me.
At Costco now getting CrossClimate2's for the winter. |
