Neal at the racer's line here in Norcal did a timed speed pull out of the tranny ~20mins documented here. I've been studying it ever since I found that video. There should be like some annual competition here at this forum.

With a lift you can get the engine out in like an hour. These cars are stupid easy to work on.

Hell, if I had a perty tool box like that (and was 60 years younger) I could do it in 20 minutes too -

Been a while on this thread as I expect trans is back in. Minor issue for sure. I would check the the concern spots and file down any burrs. You'd be done in seconds. Likely not many from prying as they'd push away from your mounting surface.

And yea, trannys can be a pill. My first clutch change was a 1980 Pontiac Sunbird cast iron 4 speed at 16 years old. Pretty sure that thing weighed more than I did at the time, sure felt like it. Haha.

Yep, here is @Ultramaroon and @Tcoat back in the day, starting to fix a transmission.

"Hey, I think the transmission is behind the engine - "

That was about the right year vehicle for my first foray into clutch replacement but it was a 1950 Fargo truck and Ultra would have been around 5 years old.

I was holding the drop light and handing my dad tools by then. Does that count?

Yep.
If we go to that level then my first clutch was a 1956 Country Squire wagon.
Mind you I am probably still traumatized by the simple act of holding the light!
