2013 FRS frs86 edition #3**Black on Black! My review.

I am new to the forum, but I have been reading stuff on here faithfully. Lots of good information seems to flow through this site.

Just thought I would share some photos of my new FR-S.

I picked this bad boy up at my local Toyota dealership, it was in their showroom. They called it an "FRS 86 Edition," which I guess was done by some guys in California that run the frs86.com website.

Car came from the dealership with:
Raven Black, 6 speed manual tranny
Katzkin Leather interior with "FRS86" stitched into the seats.
OEM Audio sound system with the subwoofer and all stock speakers replaced with upgraded speakers.
TRD Exhaust(weighs less than stock, sound is decent), TRD Spoiler, lowering springs (not sure brand, will find out though.), tinted windows, Sparco Assetto Gara 17" wheels (3 pounds lighter than stock 17.9 lbs comapred to 21.4 stock), and a Beat Sonic shark fin antenna.

I'm 26 and a little past the sound system stage, and I would have preferred they put drilled and slotted rotors and the TRD intake instead of the sound system stuff, but honestly, I don't mind it. The sound is pure and hits pretty hard.

So far I have 800 miles on the car, and I honestly, have not given much thought on the "break in" stage. I have read the forums here. I have driven it daily and been modest for cruises, but let's be honest, I have take this thing to redline more than a handful of times.

This is my first car in what people seem to classify as the "tuner market." I came from a die hard family line of GM lovers. My grandfather designed the weatherstripping on the 80s Vettes, TAs, and Camaros. I hope grandpa isn't rolling over in his grave because of my jump into the JDM market.

I have an 06 Cobalt that I will drive in the winter, and before the FRS, I had an 82 Trans Am loaded with Bilstein and Hotchkiss goodies. Hands down the technology and driveability is far superior to anything I have had my hands on.

This car is simply a dream to drive. I love it. More power would be nice, but for me, skootin' around town, and taunting all the Boxster's in town is all I am really looking for and this car delivers. After I pay the car off, and there is more long term data on boosting the car, I MIGHT go down the FI route.

I don't, as of yet, have anything to complain about. The only thing that REALLY bothered me is the damn hood prop. Why in the hell couldn't Toyota have spent another $100 on the car and gave them all hood struts? I will be getting the Grimmspeed hood lifts as soon as possible. The forum also praises adding the "3rd" brace for the strut towers, which I think I will go with the Grimmspeed as well. For aesthetics and the noticeable results people have noticed.

I will probably upgrade the pads and tires at some point, they kept the Michelin Primacy 215s on the Sparco wheels. I will probably keep the wheels as I like them a lot and try and fit 225s on there when these tires wear out. Same for the pads, I will probably run with the Hawk HPS pads once the factory ones are shot.

I have given a far amount of thought to performance mods, but for me, with no racing plans in the forseeable future, the car performs up to my standards. Give me 15K miles with the car, and I will probably change my mind. But even then, I would only want to run lightweight pulleys, intake, cat delete, header, and a tune. FI is so damn expensive and I just spent a boat load on the car, if I get the disposable income to dump into FI, I would probably just use that money to pay the car off quicker.

Overall, I would rate the car, FOR me, a solid 9/10 or 10/10, many may dispute this, but I have never been a straight line guy. I spent a ton of money to make my dogish 305 V8 TA handle better. I like realistic mods that I can use everyday and in the middle of Indiana, there are plenty of curvy fun roads I can drive. All in all, I love the car, and really like the forum. Be easy on me guys.

Car with all the mods=$29600

I did the math on if I was to purchase a stock car and add the mods, it would have cost me $29400 paying full retail for the mods. So I basically felt that I got the mods add with no labor charge. To me the leather interior was worth that damn near. Not to mention the other goodies.

Red decals have been deleted already. :-) That was the first thing that had to go!

Nice car, very clean looking.

Good deal on the mods when you think about it.

I bought my car for $25495 and have already spent $2164 on my upgrades (see sig). I dont even have the leather seats or the lowering kit on my car either. I do play on getting SARD seat covers so you can add another $400 to that total which would put me at $28059.

the TRD exhaust alone costs more than 1k I believe. Not too shabby.
