I like the HKS system. Pretty reliable and has one added feature none of the Rotrex centrifugal units offer. One of the 3 internal rollers has a variable geometry that allows the unit to draw the very least amount of parisitic power when spinning at low RPM so the vehicle still gets great mileage in a typical city or commuter operating cycle. The quality looks good too. Priced really well in the market and pretty much the only Japanese quality unit.

The traction fluid is 3x the cost, but its good for up to 5 years replacement interval so no big deal.
I have a Frankenstein V1 kit that produces 276 WHP on standard fuelling system on a custom tune peaking at 10 PSI. Only big difference is I have a Supra size intercooler.
really reliable? I cant speak of v3 but v1 and v2 literally everyone I've seen running one ended up blowing it within the first few month, Europeans and Asian seem to have a much better luck getting the warranty honored than our NA friends also.

I run a Kw and aside from people snapping belts due to improper adjustments I haven't seen many failures, same for JRSC (without the snapping belt issue) and the Edelbroch are getting decent reviews... I'd actually stay away from the Vortech, hks or innovate (in that order, people couldn't pay me to run a vortech) as they are the ones with the most common (large) issues

Everyone's favorite choices is the one that they have.
A better question is what are you trying to achieve, and are you going to DIY.

Only failure I am aware that appears to be fault of the actual product is Efferalgan in Russia and 1 or 2 others he was aware of in Russia according to his thread. I believe he has a V2.
My issues were definitely not HKS fault. There are some people pushing their units as far as well over 400 hp, such as HaDDes in Japan.

Yeah not saying they are bad but just that ive heard enough negative to steer me away from recommending them at this point, id still take one over a vortech anyday. Im very happy with my rotrex unit though so kw or jrsc is still what id recommend. Didnt mean to knock on their kits even if rereading my comment it does seem like i was knocking them

The HKS V3 is the best kit for the money. I have been running v2 since August of last year. I have haven't had any issues with it and I drive the car daily. It will see some abuse come June at Road Atlanta and I'm confident it will hold.

Again the HKS is virtually identical to the Rotrex units except HKS started out as a licensed Rotrex manufacturer who went on to include their additional innovation to reduce parasitic loss and improve daily drivers fuel economy.

Exclamation Supercharger important questions!

Hows everyone doing, had a couple questions for a stock brz i bought recently. I want to supercharge it with a kit that fully ready to install. Was wondering what else ill need to upgrade besides the kit without having problems with my motor like blowing it or somthing else not handling the power. I want to be around 300whp. Any suggestions? Also how much power can a stock motor hold until you have to upgrade the internals? Thanks!

at the very least you'll want tires and an oil cooler. I've also heard a lot of bad stories about rods bending even around 300 whp.

If cost isn't an issue. the below are the best options for Superchargers.

Harrop, Edelbrock or Cosworth for twin screw

Jackson Racing or Kraftwerks for centrifugal

Harrop and Edelbrock are not twin screw. They use a TVS blower

Not sure about cosworth
