You need to remove the fuse to turn ABS off (which also mess with electronic brake bias I think)

i guess that explains why ive never locked my brakes up when long pressing before.

Right, because no one drove cars before ABS came along.

i love how so many people honestly believe that ABS helps a car stop.

it DOES NOT help you stop.

it MAINTAINS CONTROL while stopping. it does this by sacrificing stopping distance for control while stopping.

it's for grandma's that have no concept of pedal modulation, that just mash the brake harder when things go wrong, instead of re-evaluating the situation and manually releasing the brake a little.

Threshold braking used to be one of the first things taught in a racing school.

With abs and traction control, the throttle and brakes are used like an on/off switch.

i'm of the opinion that threshold braking can be more precise than trying to allow the car to work it out, as the wheels need to first slip for the car to know to work anything out.

You can do threshold braking without deactivating abs. If abs is kicking in, that generally means you failed your threshold braking and the wheels were starting to lock-up.

I could hear the inside front starting to complain about losing traction.
I was already trailing off the brakes and keeping the wheel rolling, abs kicked in anyway.

The ABS you find on a regular street car is not meant for racing.

I'm used to racing a car without ABS, I'm hoping on my new BRZ the ABS doesn't give me any problems.

I've always been baffled by the anti-ABS crowd.

You should very rarely be getting into ABS and it may save your butt. Personally, I can push harder and more confidently without having to worry about lockup. You can get into ABS very slightly without ruining your run or your lap and that necessarily isn't the case with lockup.

If there's a wall in the way, I can stop faster too!

Im going to end up doing an ABS delete at some point, proper stuff tho, removing the whole unit reconnect the lines and add a proportioning valve to the rear line coming out of the MC to adjust bias.

But for OP's discussion, I believe the problem is that brake bias switches to the front quite a bit, its a pain to work around but not impossible. You might make something work with different pads front and rear but it might be easier to just add 42lbs of ballast.

ftfy

And yes, that includes weekend warriors.

imho the brake electronic brake biasing that allow the driver to actually use the brake mid-corner with the wheels unevenly loaded are awesome, I'm not in a hurry to get rid of it.

I hadn't tracked my car since last September and it saved me a bunch Saturday. My foot work was quite clumsy.
