Finally grabbed!! Supra GRMN appearance information capture! Demonstrate 520 horsepower with the M3 engine!!!

■M3/M4 in-line 6-cylinder 3L turbo installed will be decided!!!
The Supra powertrain is made by BMW. Then, of course, it is "M" that emerges as a high performance version.

Exactly as it is, it was decided that the Supra GRMN, which will be introduced in 2023 in a limited number of 200, will be equipped with an inline 6-cylinder 3L turbo that will be installed in the M3/M4.

The current M4CS shows 460ps/61.2kgm, but the performance has been further improved for the next M4, and the maximum output for the Supra GRMN is 520ps and the maximum torque is 62kgm.

The transmission to be combined is a 7-speed M-DCT, and it was said that the BMW side initially showed difficulty in supplying this powertrain to Toyota, but Tetsuya Tada said that it was achieved with the efforts of CE.

Naturally, the GR development team is fully committed to tuning chassis related to the high power unit, and the knowledge gained at the Nur 24 Hours race will be utilized to the maximum.

What is interesting is that there is no plan to install this M unit in the BMW Z4, which was developed in parallel.

On the BMW side, it seems that the aim is to utilize this performance with the new closed-body M3/M4 instead of the open Z4.

There is also information that Supra will complete its model life in 2025 and that there will be no next model.

The Supra GRMN, which will appear at least in 2023, will be the final edition of the current Supra. Is the price about 12 million yen?

I was reading those threads too. Interesting.

I'm sure they'll just add some power with every model year. Not a huge surprise now, but definitely wouldn't persuade me from getting one now vs waiting for a newer one.

(Honestly, on average, most manufacturers are inclined to add a power bump every couple years anyway for fresh marketing.)

I think the 2020 is powerful enough - especially from someone coming off this platform - and if it's currently not enough, there are plenty of tuning options that are relatively cheap for the amount of additional power you can get.

However, I think the greatest conversions will come from the ever elusive manual option.

What about perforated leather seats with cooling/ventilated option? A trunk release button in between the license plate lights ? A flat-bottom steering wheel?

Funny how we wished for more power from the 86/BRZ platform since day one and got a measly 5-hp increase after 5 years. But the Supra had plenty of power from the beginning yet got an additional 47-hp after less than a year with more to come!

Toyota Supra GRMN Rumored To Get BMW M3 Engine With Over 510 HP

Same rehash rumors, but its a little easier to read.

Quote:
It could also mark the end of Supra production by 2025.

A more powerful Toyota Supra has long been rumored since the moniker first reappeared for the 2020 model year. Of course, that happened for 2021, but it’s not an up-spec performance model. Toyota bumped the Supra 3.0 to 382 horsepower (285 kW), but a new rumor pegs a forthcoming GRMN model as having over 500 ponies.

This rumor originates with Japanese website bestcarweb.jp, which claims to have an inside scoop. In short, the claim is that Toyota will fit the boosted inline-six from the BMW M3/M4 under the Supra’s hood, where it will generate the same 510-plus hp as Bimmer’s Competition models. Shifting duties will also be pure BMW with a seven-speed DCT sending power to the rear wheels. If the rumor is true, this would make for one supremely quick Supra.

The rumor doesn’t stop there, however. The report suggests at least some of this info comes straight from Supra boss Tetsuya Tada, and that BMW apparently wasn’t very keen to give Toyota the M-infused engine. It’s possible this could be a factor in another aspect of the rumor, which says this M-powered Supra GRMN will launch in 2023 with only 200 units planned for production. Such a low number would certainly make this Supra less of a threat to BMW sales. But wait, there’s more.

This extended rumor also puts a finite life on the Supra. The report claims the car will cease production after 2025, and no replacement is in the works. In fact, this Supra GRMN could serve as a final edition of the car, sold alongside the standard six- and four-cylinder models to wrap up the sports car’s production.

The last part of the rumor suggests a price for the Supra GRMN, and if you’ve already been gobsmacked by what we’ve reported thus far, you might want to take a seat. A figure of 12 million yen is casually dropped, which currently translates to around $112,000 in U.S. currency. We must stress that the report merely offers this as a suggestion, but it’s a wild suggestion amid a story of wild claims.

At the end of the day, we advise readers to take this with a grain of salt. Yes, a Supra GRMN is likely to arrive eventually, but this same source reported a Supra GRMN back in January that would launch this year with around 400 hp. If Tada-San did actually spill some info for this latest report, it lends a bit more credibility to the rumor. Ultimately, we’ll just have to wait until more information – officially or unofficially from other sources – becomes available.

Couldn't read past that line. Sorry, sorry just screams of clickbait writing, might as well say "you won't believe what happens next".

Toyota Supra to die in 2025?

Maybe this is common knowledge, but it's the first time I've seen mention that the Supra is planned only through 2025:

https://www.autoblog.com/2020/07/11/...bmw-m3-engine/

I don't know what that means for the BRZ/86. It could be good news if without the Supra Toyota then focuses more on its 'own' sports car (rather than the one they bought from BMW) and might actually allow a higher-power version (since then they wouldn't be concerned about a faster BRZ/86 stealing sales from the Supra)... or it could be bad news if Toyota decides sports cars aren't worth it and exits the segment completely. They are a highly financially-driven company, and there has to be a sound business case for everything they do.

Everything will die out till we are all driving sterile dead-feeling SUVs that all look the exact same.

How can you doubt the name, when its called "BEST" car???

Its honestly an idiotic proposition to develop a not so profitable car from scratch (even teamed up with a partner) only to give it a shelf life of 5 years.....

You mean the 86 isn't a sports car they bought from subaru?

Automotive is a bit different.
They will continue to manufacture per plan regardless of sales or profitability. There may be a bit of wiggle room for a few more or less in a year but the plan still rules.
This is why there can be a shortage of some cars but things like the Aztec still get built for 3 years even though nobody buys them.
I highly doubt there was a 5 year only plan for the Supra but stranger things have happened.
