Or get a heat shield that covers it fabricated.
The water repellent filter covers DO restrict air- would you rather suck in a bit less air, or risk sucking in water? It's a compromise

AFAIK, water is only an issue when you're standing. When you're driving apparently it doesn't go in cause of the air exiting the vents at great speed

Pretty good idea. Thought another issue I heard is the engine bay gets dirty quickly but that's a compromise.

True, but we get thunderstorms everyday here. So by the time I leave work, there is traffic, people who drive slow in the rain with their hazards on creating more traffic.

I'm actually working on a solution to protect all of my pulleys and alternator from heat, maybe I'll see what I can do about a turbo shield for fun.
Yeah, the engine will get dirty, which for some is a huge trade off. I do enjoy my stuff keeping somewhat new looking, my old WRX engine bay with the hood scoop looked like poop and suffered a lot of surface rust / corrosion on parts near the air scoop from salt and snow being directly deposited onto that area..

Full race already makes a pulley heat shield.

I want something that covers on top, too. Aesthetics and such

Obsessed garage pressure washing his engine bay w/o needing to cover battery/alternator/intake. i think you will be fine with a bit of rain and snow moisture getting into the vents

In CT (USA) with a vented hood outdoors since about February and no issues. The engine is a sealed unit save for the air intake and venting the hood won't effect that at all. If you leave a block of ice on it up there in Canadia for a week you might have some kind of issues but not sure they'll be related to the vents in the hood

I agree, a top cover helps the most common supercharger and turbo problems,
premature belt failure.
