I haven't had to use a double-duty pad in many many years so my experience is with race-only pads.

Either way I documented much of it in this 4 page thread:

http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=3050206

If you're looking for hardcore and track-only pads there's some good info in there.

Pretty good info for your ITA CRX. That's kind of scary knowing how your DTC-60 pad basically decided to fall apart. Pretty good info for the track junkie looking to find out more about Raybestos and Cobalts too.

Hope to see more posts on drivers using different brake pads for the platform! Keep them coming!

What's the recommended bedding procedure for the carbotech xp8s on the BRZ? Seeing as I just bought a set...

Best way? At the track. Repeatedly stop until you feel just a hint of fade, and then let them cool down (rolling around the pits without touching the brakes is perfect) for about 10 minutes. After this, most, if not all, of the noise should be gone, and never return.

I'll quote my post from the other thread to save some effort for myself:

Just completed my 6th event with this specific car, and the new stock pads lasted me one full two-day event (also 2-3k daily driving miles), and then went out completely after two additional 25 minute sessions during the next event. Was in a semi-advanced run level with basically a stock FR-S and was keeping pace very well... But I would no longer recommend the OEM pads for the front if you are anywhere near an Intermediate skill level. A complete first-day novice should be fine, but depending on how fast you progress with the learning, you will need to stay cautious, indeed.

I switched to Ferodo DS2500 pads soon after my two sessions were up, and they held up very well for the next 6 sessions which followed through the next day. I'm still on stock rear pads, and they seem to be doing okay for now.

Just in case you're curious, I ordered the Ferodo DS2500's from Chris @MAPerformance for a special FT86Club price.

Next step for me is to go for Carbotech XP10's all around along with tires upgraded to Dunlop's Star Spec ZI/II's. Will post a review on those pads and tires later in the future...

Hope my feedback helps some folks.

Sorry for the thread jack, OP...

I've managed to bed the most aggressive pads known to man on the s2k (undersized brakes), while I'm unable to properly bed a mild enduro pad with the BBK on the BRZ. In this case, the brakes are simply "too good" for the amount of kinetic energy that the BRZ can build up and needs to dissipate while slowind down.

Even "hybrid" street pads like the Project Mu HC+800 and Hawk HP+ will screech like a dying pig if they're improperly bedded...
Essex does have a nice burnishing room.. I wonder how much it'd cost to have them bed a set of C300's against new rotors, then just switch rotors and pads like the old days when I wasn't lazy.

Hmm I'd probably just buy new rotor hats too, I know I'm too lazy to bother switching the hats over.

To a point I agree on the noise, mine showed an even layer across the rotor and still scream like a banshee, but later they didn't show as even. Mine were smoking like mad during bed in too but I never got them to catch on fire.

I may have to take that back; I've never used an enduro compound quite like the C300. Apparantly they're known for making noise, even when fully bedded... the only way I can get them to not make noise, even on track, is when I'm threshold braking. Under trail braking, they still screech...

Even the Carbotech RP2 (another enduro compound) doesn't do that...

I like this thread Can everyone update to a standard form BTW? First let's figure out the standard form.. maybe pcasso and Mike's? I modified it some, changed the scale.. discuss...

Brake Pad Manufacturer (F/R):
Caliper (F/R):
Compound (F/R):
Tires:

Feedback:

Scores:
Dusting (1=low-10=high):
Cold bite (1=low-10=high):
Hot bite (1=low-10=high):
Modulation (1=low-10=high):
Noise (1=quiet-10=extremely loud):
Pad Lifespan (1=short-10=long): (estimate/actual)
Does the brake dust with this combination damage the wheels/paint if not cleaned immediately? (Y/N)

Thoughts? I can modify the first post once we figure out the standard format.

They only make noise for me at low speed or under light pedal pressure (smooth/slower application/release and gentle braking to move weight around).

What tires are you on? I'd say that they make noise for me up to about 70% braking. We're currently on 225 RS3.

Made a few edits, 1 being "bad" and 10 being "good" in all cases. Thoughts?

I can edit my older posts to fit the new template.

I'm fine with that. I reversed noise initially just because noise of 1 seems logically that it would mean quiet but I'm good with either personally.

If no one else posts up today about it we'll go with your latest version.

Hmmm perhaps we just need to do more laps on the C300. I've never gotten them to fade, but I've also never driven more than 4 hot laps back to back; we've really only been testing and dialing in the car, rather than trying to run for times at the moment.

On the other hand, while they work just fine on the street in terms of stopping, the noise is... atrocious. Deafeningly loud at street stop speeds. Street pads are on the way :p
