Funny you should say that... He emailed me last night to inform me he was still interested but that the selling dealer has no MV Agusta sales or service records anymore. MV is no longer imported into Canada and there are are only a couple of shops still servicing them.
Here's the real kicker, he wrote; "I'm still interested. Would you entertain an offer?"
I'm about to write him back. I think I can say "no" without too much venom. But, I am still really pissed!

What is it you are pissed about? Sounds like he was showing genuine interest and is just a careful buyer. Yes, you can buy a motorcycle in less time, but that doesn't mean you always will. (Maybe I missed something)

I went to buy a bike once, went over it with a visual inspection, reviewed some maintenance logs the owner had, and had cash in hand ready to buy but I needed to do a test ride. Owner was agreeable but then was unhappy I took a 15 minute ride saying "I meant you could ride around the block". Well, you didn't say that, and I can't shake a bike down cruising around your block.

I had been ready to buy when he got upset with me, I said "sorry, I think I'll pass, here's $10 to cover the fuel I used" and left.

Won't even get into the time I spent buying a plane, and going over every one.

I do not like being jerked around. After dozens of PM's, emails and long distance phone calls where I answered every question imaginable I'd would have thought he'd know if it was worth the drive or not. He made the drive so obviously he thought it was. I could tell he wanted it after about 5 minutes. But he took nearly an hour before he asked to ride it prior to giving me the cash. After his ride is when he started humming and hawing. He took two more hours before he said he was not going to buy it.
Meanwhile, I missed an appointment I had thinking that this guy was worth my time and trouble.
I'm sure you don't like tire kickers and time wasters. I'm sure you'd move them right along if you were selling something. But to come back with "...will you consider an offer?" WTF? If he didn't like the price, (which is a bargain I might add) then why not bring that up before driving all the way to my place? If he thought he might get a better deal he could have asked when he was here. If the bike didn't "fit" him how would a lower price fix that? Why should his inability to make up his mind cost me?
At any rate, I was very tactful in my reply to him but I did hold firm on the original agreed upon price. I also sent him two photos and the link to the video.

Well as I posted above I did hear back from him. I replied and included two photos and the link to the video.
This was what he wrote back:
Stephen,
Consider it SOLD. The photos and video clinched it for me, haha!
Just need to figure out when to get it.
Would this Saturday work for you? Around noon?

So, this Saturday around noon we'll see what happens. Fingers crossed.

I have 3 RZ500s in various condition. 1 complete and the other two with enough parts to make 1 more nice bike. I wonder if they are worth much, they were cheap when I purchased them.

When he is a half hour away call him and tell him you have a sudden appointment and need to leave at 12:45 and you need to be quick.

I had thought of doing something similar when he got to my house.
Interesting thing is that the first thing he said was that he'd been thinking about my wife's M796. So he started with; I'd like to make a one time offer for both bikes. You can say yes and I have the cash or no and I'll just buy the MV. His offer was too low so we said no.
He did pay the agreed on price for my bike, we loaded it up and off he went. But before he left the wife said; "See you in a couple of days." He replied that we just might.
So one down, one to go.

So I posted the wife's M796 up on several sites.
Oh my GAAAAWWWWDDDD!!!! How do people do it? How can they sell stuff over the internet when they have to deal with such Ef'n Idiots?
I was afraid to list the wife's Ducati on kajiji becuase of the all the Kajidiots. I heard FB Marketplace was better but honestly it's as bad, maybe worse. From the scammers and hacks to the noobs and knobs it's like I'm in hell... If I don't answer a PM within minutes of the guy sending it I'm the Stupid HEAD! A person asks a question that is clearly answered in the ad and I tell them that and yep, you guessed it, I'm the Stupid HEAD!

The other night a guy PM's me "Why no stickers on mufflers? They FAKES?"

Oh paleese... tell me there is light at the end of this tunnel. Lie to me if you have to!

There's always a light at the end of the tunnel. 95% of the time, its an oncoming train of stupidity though.

I've had some luck with Craigslist selling cars (in the past). I don't leave a phone number, and make them use the contact me randomly generated email thing. That seems to weed out most of the idiots because it's 2 steps instead of 1.

Well I've been having a similar issue from a buyer's perspective. The amount of people selling bikes that the bank still owns without a title in hand is way too damn high. And that is after vetting out all the shady shit from "never dropped" to crappy repairs.

I mean, how the hell iz you upside down on a 10 year old bike that was $4000.00 when you bought it new... and still struggling to make a $40/mo payment?
