My understanding is that there is a "processing center" at the port (or near) where all "port installed" features are taken care of. My guess is the guys that do this stuff do it all the time and are far better, more experienced than some rando mechanic at the dealer.

That makes sense. I would have been happy to do it myself.

I've done plenty of motor swaps, BBKs, suspension, etc, etc. But figured it was worth it for it to just be done when it arrives.

I texted my salesman yesterday asking for an order number- he gave me a 6 digit number. Does anyone know when 2023 production will begin? Is VON a 6 digit number?

They are trained professionals that do these tasks hundreds of times a week.
NOTHING extra is added at the assembly plant. Everything is done at port or the dealer level. Even the RS1s shipped without all the TRD stuff on them and had it added at port. Keep in mid that the "port" term means a Subaru facility that the cars go to after coming off the ship not that it is done dockside or anything like that.

EDIT. What Cincy said!

As DNacomposition said, your VON will be 9 digits. I received mine through an email from Subaru of America, not the dealer. I ordered Tuesday and had my VON on Wednesday. Not the long wait begins.

I just looked through my stuff I don't have an order, just the authorization code for my deposit. Which was 5 numbers followed by a letter.

I was told expected delivery for me is August-September, which I think is optimistic. Looking at the GR order thread some guys still haven't received their 2022 GRs yet, so I would imagine it would be a few more months before they start building '23 BRZ's.

Of course, that's all S.W.A.G. on my part.

When I spec'ed my 2020 on the website, my build ID was 6 digits. Try going to the subaru site and see if you can pull up a saved build sheet with that number.

2023 MY announced, dealers started taking orders

The earliest 2022 deliveries were late October for reference. I think @ was first in the us and it was October 29th IIRC.

Placed my order today. Dealer relayed to me that Subaru of America estimates a 9/30/2022 delivery date.

2023 Limited MT. I went with Sapphire Blue.

placed my order for a 2023 limited MT with autodim mirror and the STI underspoilers, and was happy to find a dealership to honor the subaru VIP program to grab a discount in the land of dealer markup

Placed an order for a 2023 sapphire blue model with the MT. I'll be trading in my 2014 lightning red. The red is starting to fade badly after almost 7 yrs so hopefully the blue holds up a little bit better. Texas sun is no joke.

I've been told August 2022 is my expected receive time.

This is true, but I think too they didn't open up ordering until September (maybe it was August) IIRC. That's when the dealer called me about putting down a deposit on one. But I hesitated.

The guy above said SOA is saying the end of September, my dealer said August-September, hoping they are both right! It would be great to have a few months before "winter" to enjoy it.
