Yep, same here. Turn the car off and right back on and it goes away completely. The difference is night and day.

After I started the case with Toyota, they said they only have one other case of this in the world. This seems hard to believe.

Going to try this again tonight and see if there is a pattern.
I'm going to try to replicate this later today. Extremely interesting...

@Bergen23 After reading a couple threads about people with downshifting issues, I recall that the tech noted the downshifting felt off when he was driving. Maybe these are closely related? Although my hard upshifting seems more noticeable than any downshifting weirdness.

if you are in your manual mode why have it in sport as well? i thought sport only affected how soon it shifted when in full auto.

He means the sport mode for the auto when it's in Drive not the VSC Sport button.

If you're referring to me, I have not been using manual mode at all. The hard shifting may be there in manual mode but I have yet to test that. It is for sure happening in sport mode while in Auto.

I've been keeping a log of my daily commute each way and what conditions cause the hard shifting to happen. I'm trying to get to a point where I can replicate the issue on demand. I'll report back when I have more data

I believe the torque convertor is locked up in Sport mode, so the shifts will be rougher. I notice that too.

I find shifting to be relatively smooth in manual mode right after an oil change. After mileage racks up, I notice the shifting in manual mode quite rough and the torque converting locking up quite noticeable.

I'm actually coming up on my 5K oil change (4500 now), I wonder if that will change anything.

AT Transmission Hard Shifting

I think there are 4 things going on: gear disengage, rev matching, gear engage, lockup. I have a similar intermittent experience only in sport/manual modes on hard acceleration; never during lazy mode. Having said that, the rpm lurch is not as much as TS video.

I suspect it is programmed that way to give the "manual transmission" feel while in sport/manual modes. It's just a guess on my part.

Subbed.

I too have the AT6 transmission in my car. Haven't even tried the manual shifting yet. Guess I should try that out today while I'm out and about.

I've been putting the trans in manual or sport mode as soon as I put it into D and keeping it there for the drive to avoid the hard shifts. Also, what some may not notice in the hard shifting video is that the whole car violently jerks when it shifts and its not just a hard shifting feeling.
