The Gen 2 Exhaust Thread

To be perfectly honest I couldn’t really hear the difference between sound tube on/off that much. I removed it to clean up the engine bay.

my only gripe with the sound enhancer things on cars is that they should be very easy to turn off with a setting in the head unit or 5 mins tinkering under the hood (to disable it in a way that can have functionality returned easily at a later time).

it shouldnt require seeing a dealership or using a special programming tool nor cutting things off, ect.

ive had it turned off in my gti for most of the 4.5 years ive had it. not a terrible feature but not necessary at all.

Does pulling the fuse disable it without any side effects? That falls under ‘easy’ to me.

Sound tube delete was one of mods I did and really improved for me. I did consider bothersome and with a note that was too far from what the exhaust sounded.

In the end, the tech changed for 22 and I will give a try.

This is great to know!! Going to be catback shopping right before my car is delivered so hopefully I can have it ready to go on not long after I get it

Eyeing that Tomei Catback exhaust as it generally seems to have good reviews although it is a bit loud

Not sure how tolerant you are, but that exhaust is really loud and I’m used to straight piped LS’s and VQ’s lol. Can’t remember which of the Tomei models is loudest, but both are pretty obnoxious haha.

I haaaate it. It's only there at 3 or 4k+ rpms so not bad, but I can't stand it. It doesn't even sound like what the car should sound like.

Any catback "should" fit. I just ordered the HKS Hi-Power Spec-L lightweight catback. Will confirm fitment after install this weekend.

Since the Gen1 exhaust fits without a problem I wonder if, manufacturers will slow the development of Gen 2 exhausts? Try to overcharge for them? etc
