Automatic Trunk Opener?

As we know, if you use the trunk release button (at least on the limited BRZ, not sure about other cars) to open the trunk, all it does is it releases the trunk ever so slightly so you can pull it up the rest of the way to open it fully.

With some cars, any trunk button you press opens the trunk completely, all the way. Although it's an unnecessary luxury, this is something that I feel the need to have. I hate having to pull the trunk door up.

Is there any way I can get this done?

I imagine just installing some more powerful pistons will do the trick. You can get them decently cheap online. I'm not sure what the strength on the factory ones are though. If you try it out, make sure to post your results!

BTW, not really a luxury, just how the product was designed.

Not going to happen. The geometry of the hinges is such that no matter how much force is applied at those struts, they won't push open the trunk.

Put your mother in law in the trunk. She'll push it open when you pop it.

Yeah, you would have to alter the gas spring mounts, to get a different motion/mechanical advantage.

At that point, might as well install some linear actuators and give it a motorized open/close action.

Looks like I'm just going to have to hire someone to stand by my car at all times to open and close the trunk for me ..

You could put in some spring somewhere that will push the trunk when you open it. It will help give momentum. Or some strong magnets of the same pole?
