FRS recall?

My FRS arrived at the dealership last weekend, but the salesman told me that there is a recall on the cam gear (something like that). I have to wait until it's fixed to pick it up and to make matters worse, the part is back-ordered. . Has anyone heard about this recall? I've searched for it but can't find anything.

Thanks for the link. I just got a call from the salesman and he said it was ready, so I guess it wasn't a big deal after all.

It's not a big deal to them. They want to complete the sale and get paid quickly.

I would let them swap out the parts before you sign for the car.

You'll be on a first name basis with that dealership in no time. Just don't forget to feed the crickets under the hood and keep your foot heavy for when it stalls out at the traffic lights.

This is the first I've heard of a potential recall. Can you get documentation from the dealership and/or determine where exactly the saleman heard that? If I was told about a 'recall' of this magnitude before even purchasing the car, I would not have gone through with it.

Also, if they called back and said it was all set, what ever happened to the recall and parts on back order? Are they letting you take the car even though they haven't performed the required work?

Well, eurospeed, the guys in the sales office were probably more concerned with making a sale and letting Toyota deal with the warranty work than letting the sale walk out the door.

Sounds to me like the salesman didn't know what he was talking about or was misinformed. I don't think anyone should be surprised by that.

Sounds like it came in damaged. They were probably fixing it. Make sure you get what they did in writing for you records
