The BMW grille meme where the grilles get bigger with each new car eventually engulfing the entire front end and ending with a car that is all grile....
Applies to trucks more more realistically....right now the front fascias of these trucks looks like a face with the entire facial skin ripped off....
Actually I think what will happen at some point is the truck will just be a vertical vehicle as it gets taller and taller. I have a couple of coworkers that have straight off the rack Chevy and Ford pickups. I can just barely see in the engine bay.

Sure seems that way. I was checking out my neighbor's new Yukon last week. He doesn't need it, has nothing to tow, the kids all have their own cars (son has an FR-S), but bigger is better, until it's time to park at the grocery store.

It's enormous, too big for his garage and looks even bigger than the specs suggest due to its height. I'm skeptical that his petite wife likes climbing up to get in.

With the extra vertical frontal area, GM got carried away with lights. I counted 18, 6 headlamps, 8 foglamps, 4 DRL's. I hope they have big batteries and alternators to run those and the digitized interior with power everything.

Already it's kind of a relic from the past with the increasing pace of electrification worldwide.

My brother-in-law just bought a GMC Canyon, it seems like a much more practical size truck. He actually does haul stuff (motorcycles, watercraft, the occasional refurbished piano).

As far as electrification and size though, have you seen the Hummer?

I see Canyons around. They became huge too, look close to the current Tundra.

Haven't seen a new Hummer except in reviews. They really thought outside the box there, the specs are incredible. 1,000 hp, 9,000 lb., $110,000 MSRP, and it's sold out. Greens will become apoplectic if it gets the Fed/State BEV deductions.

GM has used up their fed credits, having hit the 200K limit in sales on EVs, but if the new proposed one goes into place then the Hummer would get more of a credit than the Tesla because it is built in the US, by labor unions so is eligible for the full $12,500 credit.

In a strange turn of events, it actually does look a little like a jumbo Tacoma (usually its the other way around)

I saw the biggest, most expensive single rear axle Ford pickup pull up at my neighbor's house last night. His son bought it off the lot new then "personalized" it with even bigger wheels, tires, and lights.

I went to the Ford configurator and saw that his F-350 Limited Super Duty FX-4 8' bed was optioned out to $91,450 before the wheels, tires and lights.

What a snout on that thing! Hideous. Meanwhile, my tundra (218 000km) is at the dealer waiting for a new rear end. Had high hopes for the Hyundai Santa Cruz or the new Nissan Frontier until I found out the Frontier was direct injection only and the hyundai 2.5 smartstream 4 banger drinks oil (either block deformation or poor piston ring design according to some really interesting Korean videos on youtube).
