It's in the works, that pocket is where I wanted to put an oil cooler with a fan.

While more complex, you're better off running an oil cooler to the other side, so you can preserve that space for your intake air.

If you got the standard or similar intercooler, the GReddy oil cooler integrates with the JDL kit perfectly. No fan needed to keep oil temps down that way.

For a street car, you think it'd be more beneficial to have open air while driving vs a fan for when stuck in traffic? This car likely won't ever see a track, it's going to be a fun cruiser with a 3-4 pull once a day while it's being driven.
It also will be driven up until it snows ( Maybe in the snow) so having the fan as a dual purpose time saver for me, so if I have to drive the car at -10 degrees f, I don't have to block off the oil cooler like I did with the Mishimoto unit.


Since I have you, what are your thoughts on the Turbo Guard? I really don't like the idea of it, but a fine mesh screen is better than nothing for the moment, until I figure out the intake piping

Always keep fans.

You need something there to protect the turbo. How well sealed is your engine bay?

Oh, in the case of the oil cooler, open air is plenty fine for a street car. Fans are only used on oil coolers if there is no guided airflow, and there's no other way to package the coolers to get the flow needed.

I actually have mine mounted "floating" with just foam cushioning on the top and bottom. Normally it's secured to the impact beam the bash bar replaces.

I've had it floating like this for 3 years without issue, and know of quite a few other users doing the same thing.

CSG has some GReddy oil coolers and bash bars in stock if you need it.

Hey All,

Iíve been scouring forums all of yesterday and today but to no avail.

I just installed the JDL V2 turbo kit on my car. GT2860RS turbo. Supposed to be a 3 bar map sensor but JDL didnít send it. Mishimoto Oil Cooler. DW900CC Injectors. Ptuning EBCS. Turbo Smart waste gate (Itís a hyper gate 38 and has 2 pressure references. I used the bottom one) and BOV.

We flashed the ECU and the car starts when I give it WOT while cranking. It starts, but then the response is extremely lagging and starts jerking and sputtering in 1st or 2nd gear and wonít accelerate beyond a max of 40MPH. Very dangerous and canít get up to freeway speeds.

The bov is stuck wide open and never closes. I have the T-fitting for it in the brake booster line before the bulge. I had heard that the automatics and the manuals differ in how they route and that could affect the vacuum.

Iím looking for a million suggestions rn. Iíve also hit up my tuner (Zach @ counterspace garage) to see if he knows anything.

PSA to anyone buying this kit new who plans to fit their own larger turbo-


Get a Vband flange, do not use T3. With JDL's choice to angle the turbo away from the engine, it is extremely hard to get the cartridge clocked for optimal oil drain, the T3 flange impedes. So if you're thinking big, and you're not using one of the turbos JDL provides as an option, do yourself a favor and opt for Vband.

Did you use the side bracket support? Or just the foam on top and bottom?
