Yeah these guys are awesome. Plus the guy who took care of me immediately spotted the ( @Drambeenie ) risers and asked about them when I was finishing up, and was curious how much they are, about the paint match and stuff. He was super into it, not forbidding at all.

I also saw the salesman who sold me the BRZ last year, he kinda remembered me, and he was asking about what I've done with the car so far as well with genuine interest.

This dealer seems super cool.

Sorry I got over-excited . Either way, new battery for free. That's a-okay for me.
I bet that the majority of dealer visits actually go down like this. We just never get to hear the good ones. I bet if you went in and started demanding a new wheel and the paint fixed they would have told you to take a walk.

Yeah, none of what I commented on was aggressive today. Just casual stuff like "oh, and by the way I've noticed this about my steering wheel since last year, etc., oh, and also while washing my car recently i spotted this rust which seemed unusual since I live in SJ and the car isn't too old."

Generally people in service industries will work with you easier if you have a good attitude about it.

I hate to say it like this but I'm generally pretty good about milking things. When things absolutely need to be said about actual problems/issues, I'm able most times to get stuff out of it.

But in situations like this I'm just quiet and respectful because I don't know for sure if the things I'm asking about qualify as real problems.

BTW @Clipdat as far as the battery goes, I was looking over the work order again a few minutes ago and the reasoning they gave for the battery failing was "leakage". So maybe you were right the other day that there was some residue somewhere coming from the battery.

We read here all the time that dealers just want t deny warranty and not do any work because they just want to bleed the customer dry. This is way far from the truth. Most are more than wiling to deal with legitimate concerns even if it doesn't make them as much as charging the costumer. They want to keep their car buying customers happy so they will buy their next car from them. And the next. And next. And hopefully for life. Their main business is selling cars not fixing them and you don;t sell much to pissed off people. If their main business is repairing cars then they are no longer a dealer but just a garage that sells cars.

Probably just what they put down to justify the work. If your battery leaked enough to kill it there would be no doubt. It would make one hell of a mess of anything the acid touched. All that dirt on the tray and battery would be a big frothy cover.

Yep. This 100%. Especially when the young guy is an up-and-comer at a big high tech firm. He just might buy more cars!

I even had a Mazda dealer back in the 80's replace a set of tires on my B2000 pick-up that were wearing funny because I had not rotated them in 10k miles since new. Service manager says, "Your tires looked really bad. Have you been rotating them every 3000 miles?" I say " No. " he says, "I thought so." He went on to explain, showing me in the owners manual and tire paperwork the rotation schedule . He said he went ahead and had them replaced, but wasn't going to do it again, and to please come in and they would do it for free. I was just in for my free service?! I didn't say anything about the tires?!

There is a good dealer story for ya.

Bet you would find it so there as well. If a dealership has existed for more than 10 years then there is no way they are screwing people over. Even in the GTA there are only so many customers and you need them to buy more than once.

Well unless the owner of a particular good dealer decides to call it quits and the other scum dealers pony up the cash to buy it off and close it.
