It would be hilarious to hear clarkson and hammond bicker about which one is better, only to conclude they are nearly the same car with a few dynamic differences.

Well as I said... comparing apples to oranges. Top Gear wasn't even allowed to turn off traction control in their 1 mile stretch... Toyota really did themselves in this time..

There needs to be a Top Gear episode of FRS vs BRZ!

Where they drive on The Ring and James May can complain from the sidelines.

I really don't know why Toyota was such a stickler about letting Top Gear drive their car. It isn't just any car magazine.. it's TOP GEAR for christ sakes... they report via articles and television/cable all over the world.

Top Gear: We want to test drive BRZ and FT86! :happy0180:
Toyota: Sorry you not allowed to push traction control button
Subaru: You want to test drive our BRZ? Don't worry about it
Toyota: Well Top Gear.. looks like your time is up
Top Gear: 1 mile only?? Whatcha gotta hide Toyota???

Subaru: Here's 12 hours on our private course. Drive to your hearts content!
Top Gear: omFG this car is awesome
Subaru: We know.. we designed it!
Toyota: Hey! we said no drifting ok~? Okay time to give us our car back

^This

I rather my 200HP car rev up to 9000 RPM each gear than 7000 RPM

Oddly enough, I'm surprised the guy reviewing the 86 was clear that he wanted a turbo on the car. He didn't get to drive it far enough for a turbo to spool...

Thanks @Infernal for uploading the photos, Australia receives Top Gear issues late, we still got the December issue on the shelves. I hope the January issue comes to Oz next week!

Tip: to people that don't really read Top Gear Magazine but have Smart phones either iPhone or Android (not sure about Blackberry). Go to your App Store(Apple) or Market(Android) and search and download an App called Aurasma Lite. Note for Apple devices the app only works on iPhones and ipads not iTouch since it does not have a built in camera.

1. Run the app (make sure you have data network mode activated or wi-fi on)
2. point the camera to the first page that @Infernal uploaded.
3. give it a few secs and...
4. video of the BRZ and FR-S/86!

So the Subie engineer Masuda-san asserted the BRZ will never see factory forced induction because they would have to add chassis reinforcements (read: weight) thus abandoning the "handling delight" essence of the car. But he did say, "We can fit tougher valve springs, and that would allow the BRZ to rev much higher, maybe to 9,000rpm." Interesting.
