Why do 95% of the people taking pics of cars feel that the 3" from ground level is the perspective to go with?

it's from the "how to properly photograph fishies" book. it makes the car look bigger from that angle.

I don't own a tripod so I set the camera on something to get a clearer shot. the nice carbon fiber tripods are four benjamins for a manfrotto at the local camera shop.

I might do the skyway but I avoid the dragon before midnight. seems 50ish is the minimum speed to cool by air

What did you set it on? A dime?

aluminum tripods work just fine.

i'm not exactly sure what the skyway or the dragon has to do with this... chereolla might be 45, but it's smooth enough to average 60-70. boring to me. and the dragon is only 50 in the last third. first 2/3's is 40ish on the straights...

Only current "exotics" that do it for me are the Cayman GT4 and current 911 GT3/RS. Wouldn't really call the Cayman an exotic though. Maybe the 3RS.

The sound alone from that thing revving out to 9k is just so good. I still need to drive one. Hopefully some day soon.

The Huracan Performante is a neat car that sounds great, but I've never been a big Lambo guy. Same applies for Ferrari's (except the F40). I love the engineering behind the Koenigsegg, but that's in another realm regarding price, and with as many morons as there are on the road, I feel like I'd be afraid to drive it. Same with the older Zondas that used the AMG V12s.

I think my days getting in and out of my tiny cars will last about another 8 to 10 years at best, then I'll sell my sports cars and get a good used W12 Bentley to tour around in. A 14 mpg w12 sounds awesome.

We could argue about Nurburgring times and whatnot all day, but as none of us probably has that sort of ability it would have to be something that is actually enjoyable on the street as well.

GTC4Lusso, because V-12 shooting brake.

since most trailheads are closed my 10 mile easy hike turned into a 16 mile 3000' net gain meatgrinder. I am holding out for lightness so I can pack more water.

an elderly couple have a photography store in Knoxville are super sweet and the mans father took most of the promotional pictures when the great smokys came into fruition. they have great shots but their main seller is Roosevelt's dedication at newfound gap.

after forty years, I know the dragon quite well and the frequency of egos crossing the line has grown exponentially in the last decade. (i used to blow through it on an old 72 cb750 in the 80s).

for self preservation, i go dressed as a cager in the brz and only after midnight. "they say" the last ranger clocks out at midnight so the new foothills section and the old section are free and clear.

I think if I was going to go the exotic route, I wouldn't buy one but I would join some service like Revolve where you get a "subscription" to a fleet of cars and can drive different ones depending on your mood (and availability).

I was raised with working class values and the idea of ‘wasting’ money on a new exotic car (let alone a whole collection) doesn’t sit comfortably with me. Much as I admire the engineering, performance and design of today’s exotics, even if I had Jeff Bezos type money, I think at most I’d shout myself to a new mid level sportscar such as an Alpine A110, Lotus Exige, or a Cayman, but nothing in the crazy supercar territory.

Above the level of a good sportscar, such as those above, any additional performance would require far greater driving ability than I posses to exploit. Heck, even something like a Cayman or a Lotus has such high limits that I would have little hope of fully exploiting them. So to spend any more on a Lambo, Ferrari, McLaren, Bugatti, or Koenigsegg type affair would just seem like conspicuous consumption and showboating to my common muck, working class brain.

If I had Bezos money a supercar would probably be not an issue for me. But I'm with you, I don't like to spend more than 5% of my yearly income on the car payment itself.
