I'm surprised we don't have more snakes, but I've only seen a couple in the 25 years we've lived in our home, although we did have one in the attic once. It left a nice skin for us, but we never found it.

No corn on them just the empty cobs so I am not sure what his plan was. Because there were still a few stray kernels and the cobs themselves made nice burrows the piles soon became totality infested with mice. This of course drew in the garter snakes (some of which got huge in a hurry). One of my tasks was to go out every other day and turn sections the cobs over with a fork. This of course sent mice running everyplace. It didn't take long for the garter snakes to show up as soon as I started flipping cobs. There could be no snakes in sight and after a couple of forkfuls they would start appearing all over the place, grab some lunch and head back into the long grass.

HOLY CRAP After 52 years I just realized that maybe Dad was farming garter snakes with those cobs!

At the same time disliking them does not mean you need to exaggerate or completely make up shit based on bias and myth.
I mean, I forgive you for being a cat person but let’s not resort to name calling.

I don’t think a 3 to 8% rate of a a condition that only affects cats is that worrisome not fitting as the title of spreaders.

True, but doesn't negate my point. Cat seems to be the only pet you can't get in trouble for just letting go wild in the community.

Speaking of bad dog owners, we regularly come up to dogs and owners that think it is ok to have their dogs off leash. They think their dog will just obey being unleashed in their yards, then they come running at us and our dogs as we walk by on the street. Last time it happened was funny. This big (bigger than Princess) pit/cattle dog mix came running at us. The owners were screaming, and it even had a shock collar that did no good, it kept coming. When it got close, Princess lunged and put it down by the neck. Princess really missed her calling. She should be a police dog. It was really impressive.

Meanwhile people post on the apartment social page how unfed the feral cats all seem, like they're starving.

That's one thing people don't realize about feral cats. They don't kill to eat, they kill to kill, and don't know why. They are most often fed by humans. People think feral cats kill to eat, and that is wrong. They dont.

Feral cats do kill to eat in many cases at any rate. Yes some get fed by humans but not all nd not enough.
Pet cats kill for fun.
Oh and for every song bird they manage to catch they relive the world of many many more rats and mice.

Again that is not the cat's fault it is the owners. Responsible cat owners don't let their pets outside. Period.
Cats are horrid because they shit in flower beds but a dog grabbing another for any reason, is "funny" and "impressive"? I have seen what dogs do to each other even when one just wanted to play!
