I’m interested to see the type-R knob for the 2022’s personally.

Because the reverse lockout is so large on the 22+, the knob would have to just be a cylinder. It wouldn't have that classic Type-R shape, unless you oversized the knob entirely... but then it would be out of proportion

Hmm, I’m honestly trying to find something that’s like the Tomei SS knob. I find it to be the perfect meld of the type R style and the old Nismo knobs.

I have one from my old car, maybe I need to just get serious about throwing it on someone’s lathe to open the counterbore up ~3-4mm. There’s enough material, but just.

3-4mm isn't enough. You need to double that. With our knobs we had to change the boss size, and bore, specifically for the 22+. There just wasn't enough material there on our current knobs

That's disappointing to hear. After looking at your Type R knob and how I handle the shifter in my '22, I think something like the Type R knob or the Grimspeed delrin knob are probably exactly the shape I'd want.

Does the sizing issue on the '22 come from upper lip of the reverse lock out protruding beyond the base of the shift knob in your design?

It's more that the diameter of the reverse lockout is so large.

Can the reverse lockout go on the outside of the knob's base shaft when it is pulled up? Rather than fit inside the ID of it.

The same knob in the OP available in more colours would be neat. I like the white, but would also be interested in red to match the interior seat stitching.

We did this years ago, and it was a flop. Delrin colors are just too dull, kind of industrial colored. Black and white are most accepted, with Black being most popular. We sell white knobs to those that live in the desert and track guys. The track guys say it white is easier to see in their peripheral vision.

There was one done by Cobb I think awhile back in nitrous blue(Focus RS) and overall it looked really good in the pictures. Maybe they could be custom dipped for various patterns and colors? CF would look fantastic.

If you get some polishing compound, mount it in a drill and have a polisher, you can get them to a mirror finish. Will look just like an 8-ball, but you have to be patient. Too much force or too much RPM and it will burn the surface and its trash.

If you're trying to reduce the shine, some 0000 steel wool might do it easier and remove less material than wet sanding.

There are also different types of Scotch-Brite that will give different finishes as well
