for fuel trims short term fuel trim will be all over the place when your on off throttle this is normal, long term fuel trim is basicly the average of short term fuel trim value over a sliding window of time. Their are four bands based on flow rates of maf sensor (roughly related to rpm) where the ecu stores ltft, At cruise steady throttle and idle you would be looking for LTFT to be less than 10% before you go hard. Your ecu only learns fuel trims when its in closed loop fueling mode this is at idle and cruise and fairly steady throttle movements, this is why you need to drive non aggressivly and let ecu learn. When you WOT or dtiving agressivly its in open loop mode it does not learn fuel trims but will apply what it has learned in closed loop ie the fuel trims to try to correct the afr. If it has not had time to learn it will apply the wrong corrections during WOT and agressive driving. This is why its important to drive easy at varing rpm at the start to let ecu learn fuel trims |

Today I flashed over to Stg 2 UEL E85 and followed these guidelines for the transition. So far I am very happy with the cars enhanced performance.
I have posted a data log describing two third gear pulls followed by highway driving and spirited back roads. I am getting some flkc on the highway and what appears to be the highway only. Watch as my advanced multiplier makes it was back up to a 1.0. http://www.datazap.me/u/boofneenee/s...og=0&data=1-12

I already had a grasp of the basics of E85 - pros vs. cons. This thread was perfect in answering many other questions. Thank you, Steve.
Thanks to @Garrett@Vishnu and @Robert@vishnu as well. This is my first tank of E85 and I don't know if I can go back now. The map makes everything so smooth that it makes the stock tune look like garbage. I personally got the chance to meet Garrett, Robert, and Shiv at a meet (this is Daniel). They took care of me and were a pleasure to deal with. I would highly recommend an OFT to anyone looking to experiment with OTS maps. It's so easy that even I could do it. |

Am I getting this correct ? Get OFT, get the E85 tune & a tank of E85 and get an extra 20-30hp on stock everything? Can it be this simple or am I missing something?

How to run E85 on stock 86 BRZ FRS with OFT tune
Quote:
Literally that simple : ) Edit: but be sure to switch to an e85 compatible oil. I just found that bit out. And I'm also not sure how harmful or not harmful it is to just use the normally prescribed Toyota oil while on e85. Stock oil viscosity is 0w20 |

Hey steve, which E85 file are you using on a stock car? OFT OTS v1_59 7.55.58 PM.zip contains an E85 tune for EL and UEL to suit A01G which are identical except for 4 tables relating to intake/exahust cam advance.
And thanks for the info in this thread and the tactrix one. Very handy mate |

Stock headers ar EL so run the EL E85 stage 2 tune for E85 on a stock car. unless you have UEL unequal length headers dont run UEL tunes UNITED PETROLEUM E85 is consistenely E85 which is way more e% then you need for a stock NA car for the octane ratinng you need, however at least its constant e% so ecu does not have to relearn fuel trims. CALTEX e85 is e-flex so the e% varies between about E65 and e85 but even e65 is good enough for octane rating you need on stock car. You will probably get better fuel economy on caltex due less e% hence more petrol. if you were boosted you would want the united stuff as you need all the octane rating you can get and the consistent mix for us na guys take your pick |

I'm dead stock so EL it is. Have both United and Caltex within 5mins of home so no issues there either, that said don't really care about economy
Will play around with the tactrix logging from your other thread a bit more before I do any changes though. |

SN rated oil is best for E85, or just change often.
