After driving it in Gran Turismo for a bit I’m able to get lap times similar to an S2000. The S2000 is ultimately a hair faster but the GR86 is easier to be consistently fast with.
The GR86 drives very similarly to the 2015 86 in the game, just faster. It’s instantly recognizable as a twin. I’m able to shave 2-3 seconds off my time on brand’s hatch between the 2. The engine sounds very similar too, a bit smoother but not as different as the Ken Gushi drive-alongs suggested. Sounds like polyphony turned the fake engine noise off. |

Based on the VR video, it looks like he had to shift into 3rd at around 55~ish, which seems to suggest the gearing hasn't changed from the 4.3 ratios of the 2017+ models. Am I right about that?

2017 GT86 vs 2022 GR86 (they have the years labeled incorrectly)
0-60: 7.27s / 6.62s -- + 0.65s 0-100: 18.85s / 15.88s -- + 2.97s 1/4: 15.62s @ 90 / 14.73s @ 95 -- + 0.89s @ 5mph 1 KM: 28.25s @ 118 / 26.67s @ 126 -- + 1.58s @ 8mph 1 Mile: 38.92s @ 130 / 36.90s @ 140 -- + 2.02s @ 10mph Will be interesting to see if these match up to the real world. The 0-60 for the 2022 GR86 in the game seems slower than what Toyota has been quoting, but there are notable improvements considering the relatively low power gains - more top end would help but that isn't how they tuned the engine; I'm assuming it might be a tad faster in the real world, but probably not by that much. *** P.S. The trunk looks to be the same size. I recall there being some discussion about it shrinking, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Last edited by mazeroni; 07-09-2021 at 09:43 PM. |

The game is using the final drive of 4.1 for the new car, using the same gear ratios from the og model.
I customised it to run at the 4.3 ratio with exact same gearing at the 16+ model (going custom messes with them all so you have to configure it all separately after setting a max speed), and apart from the custom whine and the clear improvement in gear change time, I got to admit it feel a lit more like it should sit at 4.3! I wish I could just change the gears instead having to install a full sequential gearbox so I could compare them better. But yeah, its excellent. Its just a game, but boy it felt right there. |

This guy buys the car and instantly pull a 8:12.12 run on the ring.
Thats a very decent time on Sports Hard tires. Last edited by Blighty; 07-09-2021 at 10:09 PM. |
