still I haven't found half the amount of negative press on several other oil coolers, you want to drop money on their products that's fine, I know I will not be (got the cooler free also so not like I am losing cash by not using it)

They warranty their part, not the parts that may fail because of their part's failure. with the failure rates I've seen recently with their products (did some research yesterday) I would rather stay with no cooler than risk issues down the road... If you want it I'll sell it to you on the cheap

I'll give you $5

Add me to the list of ppl that tried a Mishittymoto oil cooler and had it fail. 3 Track sessions where oil temps hit upper 230F and the sandwich plate warped to where it would no longer allow a new oil filter to properly attach. After 2 calls and sending pictures to support no help or suggestions were given beyond "uninstall and reinstall" to ensure things were aligned properly. They had supposedly never heard of this happening before.

Switched to a Perrin cooler and have had no issues since.

I have just received my Cosworth thermostat in its sealed box. The thermostat inside is a Mishimoto one.

This was bought from a reputable dealer and the Cosworth security seal on the box was intact.

I know that Cosworth outsources its thermostats from an OEM manufacturer in japan for other cars like STIs, (NIPPON Thermostats) but considering the site that I bought this from sells the Mishimoto thermostat aswell for just over half the price of the Cosworth one, feeling a little ripped off.

Can anyone that has got a Cosworth thermostat confirm that the thermostat they received has not got Mishimoto stamped on it?

When I received mine, I didn't notice any sort of Mishimoto insignia on it. But it's been a while since I've put mine on (nearly 2 years).

Are there any markings on either of these thermostats? judging only by the photos, they appear to be made with the same tooling. For all we know, they come from the same manufacturer and are simply different temperature parts.
It's unlikely Mishimoto, Cosworth, or either of the other performance shops that sell thermostats for our cars actually manufacture them. It sucks that this part failed, but this is a lot of hating on mishimoto who are probably just reselling these parts. For all we know, we may be looking at parts which came out of the same factory as the OEM thermostats.
Curious - aside from the fact that it failed, did you notice any improvements in engine temps before the part failed? these cars do run hot.

Thumbs down

another thermostat failure from mishimoto, it last a lil bit more then 2 years, i feel this part is too crucial to be messing with, going back to stock now, and whoever is thinking this mishimoto part is gonna help, dont do it its not worth the risk

When I lived with NA Miatas, we found fast that no aftermarket thermostats were good. It makes no sense but it's a common trend

I bought this to replace mine as I was putting in a new engine and thought I might as well replace everything. Brought it to my mechanic who promptly told me he wouldn't install this in any vehicle and stated that the Mishimoto thermostats were not any good. Soo, if anyone does want one cheap. hit me up.
