Ooof.

Definitely. I was telling my friend that the Corolla is going to mimic the Type R with crazy markups

I'm sure it will be marked up, but hopefully by the time it comes out in a year or so, the current market will be better.

Probably could still run into that Type R markup

Considering the last 'hot' version of a Corolla was the XRS from, what, 10 years ago? I would be disappointed if there wasn't a Type R market.

Zero shot it is a troll. They would have taken it down. What is is funny is that it took this long for anyone to notice. I mean, who the F clicks an insta post of a corolla interior?

But yea, given the caption is "Keep Them Guessing," with #corollahatchback, I'll assume the content of the picture is about as much confirmation as you can have, short of a press release.
I was about to call this bullshit until the motor 1 article pointing at all the easter eggs.

Least they could have done is use a MT Corolla for the interior shot. Hope they don't overprice it, this thing is a wrx and Veloster N competitor, not a type R competitor. With a base Corolla priced at $20k that should be doable.

I made the joke to the boss lady about trading the BRZ in for whenever this thing comes out, if it's truly worth the upgrade. She said "I hope you do trade it in". Yeah, she's not a big fan of the BRZ and she misses my old Mazda 3 Hatchback.

If it offers the AWD and turbo 3 and manual, I'll probably get it. I'm just fully expecting automatic only, or fwd only. Or some other caveat

There's a day-old article by Motor Trend talking about some goodies like this:
"The GR Corolla's all-wheel-drive system will use the simple and light performance-oriented hardware from the GR Yaris. The first new AWD system developed by Toyota in more than 20 years, it has a fast-response center coupling that can be set in three modes—Normal, which sends 60 percent of the torque to the front wheels; Sport, which sends 70 percent to the rear wheels; and Track, which splits the torque 50:50. A hypoid gear transfer case links it all to a conventional six-speed manual transmission.".

The caveat is that it will cost $5k more then a WRX and be slower.

At which point why not Veloster N with a diff or the WRX? Drift mode I guess.

I'm assuming it'll cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $32-35k, MSRP.

But as for dealer markups, heh. GL.

Because neither of those cars appeal to me!
