Winter tire/wheel and pads fitment for new BR/86

Anyone willing to guess if brakes are the same so we can use the same pads? How about fitting 16” winter wheels/tires (205/50/16) from first gen?

Most likely the same caliper and pad shapes,
but according to "upgraded brake pads" I expect different part numbers at least for pads.

Probably the easiest way to tell is to wait until the 2022 BRZ is listed on https://parts.subaru.com/ and compare part numbers against a 2020-.

On this note, is there a Subaru Japan parts page? I can't seem to find one.

Anyone have any luck finding some winter tires that fit? I’ve been scouring Tire Rack / Dealers / Discount Tire and neither the Blizzaks nor the Sottozeros are in stock.

I’m definitely not knowledgeable on tire fitment and whatnot, any major downsides going with a 225/40 or 225/45 on the stock 18” on the Limited ‘22 BRZ?? I’m lost trying to find something that will work - car gets here in two weeks and it’s slipping into the 20’s every night and the PS4’s won’t stand a chance.

Any chance you would entertain a wheel/tire swap to do a 205/55-16?

225/40R18 will be pretty close to stock diameter. 18" snow tires are pretty pricey so you might look to get some cheap 17" wheels.

I would go with a second set of wheels instead.

For the time being price isn’t a huge problem, I can swing them. Discount tire said they’d be ~ $160 a pop and I can use my veteran’s discount to take a little off of the top.

But thank you for that calculator! Super useful!

I want a second set of wheels, but due to how new the vehicle is I don’t want to struggle with finding wheels that will fit (again I know very little about the tolerances or what offset for each set would need).

Any other benefit to getting a different set of wheels besides just choosing the tire size? I won’t be taking this to the track or anything.

Tirerack doesn’t yet have 2022 BRZ wheel and tire combos the last time I checked, but you can config for a 2020 BRZ limited. Those will be 17” wheels, but the stock size 17x7.5x48Offset has quite a few options. From there you can choose tires that fit on those rims, not sure if the TPMS they offer work though on Subarus.

You should probably be OK if you match the fitment of the factory Premium wheels (17x7.5 ET48).

You’re right, they don’t have wheel options and the only winter tire to fit the exact OEM specs are Sottozeros that are not available to be ordered.

I’ll let you guys know how the 225 / 40 / 18”s fit when I try them on the car. If they don’t work I won’t get them and I’ll probably end up going 17” but I want to give it a shot.

Goal is to use stock wheels as winter wheels and then get a nice set of forged BBS or something for my summers.

For sure. I was searching the Tire Rack fitments for a 2020 BRZ.
