That's what I get for being vague. If I am working from home, and my home workspace is occupied by someone else I am either divorced or dead.

I often wonder what my job would have been like if I stayed until covid hit. The county I worked for, which includes silicon valley, bragged for 30 years about being cutting edge of tech, and workers being able to "tele-commute" ( that's what they called working from home) and yet there was never a single case where they actually allowed it for ANYONE that wasn't the highest of executive management. Once covid hit, no one was allowed to go to work. Since I only had about 1 hour of actual work a day, I would have been on permanent paid vacation. I could have just cruised the Santa Cruz mountains all day, worked on my cars and house, etc.. Missed out.

I started a new job on the first day of our lockdown.. Only met 4 of my colleagues in the flesh. Got sick and tired of hearing the MS Team's ringtone..

During the first few weeks of WFH our scheduled MS Teams meetings had everyone with their cameras on. They soon started adding exotic or humorous backgrounds so they wouldn't have to keep their house neat for the camera. After a few months no one switched on their cameras anymore.

Blurred background for me.. thankfully I have a clean wall behind me so it works.. I struggle with stupid backgrounds, however, what can you say when your client's team members use them??

When we locked down, we sent everyone home. I worked from home for a week, but got bored with it, so went into work anyway. There were times I was one of only one or two people in a building that holds 200. Best couple of months of my career....

I have a rack of shelves behind me filled completely with tools, hobby shit, and whatever. I make a point of keeping it real whenever I'm on camera. Fuck those background effects.
