Correct, the stock TB is 65mm. And that's exactly what we are planning on doing. We don't know if there is going to be a benefit or not. However, we have a core coming in from Trust Automotive. He will be testing it on a couple of FA20Club turbo cars, and an Innovate supercharged car. Hopefully he will find some good data. Stay tuned

How about NA?
Will you test the big throttle body on the NA car or have already assumed
no benefit?

We will be testing it on N/A as well. Our fabricator has a bone stock auto FRS that we will bolt it on to see what happens. We just don't have a way to test one with some tuning on an N/A car, which might actually show better gains. But maybe someone can help us out there as well.

In for results.

Done this already on my car already.
Perrin silicone intake hose mated with a TODA big throttle body(68mm.. 'big' as in relative terms obviously.. not really that much bigger)
Hose is blinging with some Reflect-A-Gold heat wrap added too. Didn't know there was a 70mm TB released either, but as someone mentioned, a bit silly going that route when the stock intake manifold is 68mm.. derp.

Here are some comparison pics of my TODA vs the STOCK intake.
As can be seen the stock TB finish is quite rough and the taper has a little knuckle before the shaft. Not meaning to thread hijack here, but post-installation of the TODA definitely made the car feel more responsive. The P&P of that must have made an effect.. or maybe it was a placebo effect.
The butt dyno usually doesn't lie though.

PS, never bothered to do a Pre and Post dyno run with the TB installed. Might do it next week or fortnight if I have some spare time.
Also, for anyone contemplating this mod.. $250 is CHEAP. Sometimes I wish I lived in the states..

Feels good! Butt Dyno reckons its at least 5kw increase.

Did you see (or feel) lose torque at low RPM compared with stock one?


Did TODA throttle body match stock ecu or need to tune?

I am still debating which throttle body I should go.
They are all pretty expensive and I never see any dyno result.
TODA one looks like a taper design from 72mm to 68 mm (pic1)

The image (pic2) shows the taper structure can push the air flow.
The revolution on is 70 mm, but there is one red adapter in the end.
I am not sure that will be same function as taper or is useless

Yeah I saw that red adaptor. Maybe that may act as a type of sleeve and bypass the stock intake size? I'm not 100% sure so can't comment on that.

Whilst at the workshop during changeover of the TB's we never got around to measuring the difference in sizes - in hindsight we should have.
I'll most probably be doing that next week or next fortnight if I can book something in before the xmas holidays.

As soon as we finish the one we have in house. I think we just got the throttle plate finished, so once we put it back together, we can throw it on our fabricator's bone stock FRS. We don't have any tuning available however, so I don't know if I will have results of what it can benefit with a tune. But hopefully we can have someone try that out as well.
