Debatable. For example, I am only upgrading from a 17 to a 22 because i can get top notch price on my trade in now. If i only got "normal" market value on my 17, I would never go through with it. And if anything, sportscar sales is the first segment to be impacted by a financial down turn.

All this to say, demand is going to be negatively affected by the current financial market condition, just a matter if it's enough to lower demand enough to make them more accessible than 2022. And this is assuming there is going to be a market down turn at all. No one have a crystal ball.

As long as there isn't enough of a reduction for them to say "screw it these just are not worth making anymore".
The standard 3 years parts contracts have very few escape clauses but if there continue to be worldwide emergencies every few months then the few that there are could bee put into play and the car simply dropped.
This of course is a very extreme scenario.

FYI, I am not suggesting that Suby/Toyota will cancel the model all together. Just wasn't sure if the 2023 car will be as hard to acquire when compared to the 2022 car.

And history have proofed that plenty of sportscar projects/models were cancelled because of market conditions. But again, I doubt this will be the case with the Gen2 twins because of it's age in the model life cycle. Tooling/R&D investment costs are sunk at this time so they will just keep making them for the interim. But if the market down turn/recession persists or gets worse, you might see a shorter product life cycle as originally planned. I am actually surprised they killed off the STi to focus on electrification.

You guys need to stop keeping these as garage queens and drive them in the winter. They are a blast in the snow.

I took delivery of mine on Jan 13 BTW.

I'll be driving mine in every snow storm I can. Like jvincent said, cars like this are great in the snow with the right tires.

The inconvenience to me will be that I immediately have to get a set of winter wheels/tires instead of having a few months on the summer tires.

Because of when I took delivery my FRS that I traded in had winters on it. So I very carefully drove from the dealer to my tire guy, about 2km, and put the winters on the OEM 18" wheels.

people tell me this about driving a 4x4 truck in the mud.

it's great driving in snow in the car, and a whole lot of fun driving the truck through mud. i don't deny that.

but i end up paying for it with extreme maintenance. bolts no longer just 'rust'. they become 1-time-use rivets. i plan brake jobs to take all day. it usually takes longer.

so the car stays inside for winter, really just to make it last longer, and because i still mostly enjoy tinkering/wrenching on it, and exposing it to the chicagoland salt flats would just make it another car.

I agree, this sounds like the wisdom of age/experience. If you don't plan to tinker with it, and turn cars over regularly, this may not apply, but I'm the type that holds on to cars I like (far too long in many cases) and I like to work on them..

I have a daily and the snow/salt here kills the car.

My last BRZ was driven through winter on Direzza Star Specs.

Of course, we don't typically get real winter here.

That's about my stance on this. I only avoid using it on snow days for the reason of salt and the need to then clean it off all around and underneath the car ASAP afterwards. At least that's how I would care for it in that situation as I'm a bit of a neat freak with it. But if the roads didn't get salted like they do around here, the snow wouldn't deter me one bit.

Ever since we had a pretty major storm several years ago that was not very expected and the roads weren't prepped, our county takes extra measure to salt the hell out of the roads a day or two before a quarter inch of snow is coming.

Exactly. My county/state sprays every Chloride mix imaginable the day before the temps drop below 30's.

Anyway, to get back o track on this thread..

Anyone else constantly looking and calling dealers? Couple toyota dealers just got GR's in. Auto's of course... I'm not anti Auto just looking for 6spd.

I stopped the daily internet searches after I submitted my order. It's given me peace of mind, but now have to endure the long wait until my VIN gets generated and the dealership gives me an ETA for delivery.
