I saw those pictures! The series of looks of disappointment on your face with you hands in the air was a bit comical.

You tend to get good action pictures!

Special BIG thanks to @14stu for his help last Sunday at the SCCA SOLO autocross when my BRZ would not start. We used his portable battery booster to start the car. But the slow start along with the weird light show on the dash suggested I not drive and risk a dead car on the course.

He offered and I accepted a co-drive in his STX ride. What a treat!

And he posted my one recorded run on You Tube. Spousal unit enjoyed the show.

After the event finished I was able to start the car without assistance. Battery checked good on Monday, and I've not had again the no-start, dash light tango.

Thanks again times three.

Everyone except Powers did great at today's ER event at Mesquite Memorial, the course was short and tight with plenty of gravel (the only type you can have at Mesquite). Brandon (bslate3) managed first in STX, I took 2nd, and Powers (shneegle), co-driving in my car, ended up in 4th just behind Jon Miller. Brian Brooks managed to take the win in the Novice class over stiff competition.

Way to go Brian! The course was fun despite being tight and short.

After a couple coned runs and a DNF (missed a gate in corner 2), finally squeaked out a 35.844 time on my last run to take over first in novice, by about 1/4 sec in PAX time over a Camaro and WRX. Gavin picked up 10th in novice in his FRS. Great weather today and a good showing by all the twins. More fun next weekend at our annual event!

Congrats to Sam (14stu) on laying the smack down in STX today! Great driving in the rain!

Also great job to LetzROQ on smoking all of us! Regardless of the conditions, fastest is fastest!

I'm pretty sure that my softer setup helped me take the win today. I was beginning to think that I wasn't going to get a first place finish this season. If I hadn't won, I would have been disappointed that my first run was my fastest:

My codriver Curtis coned his fastest run, which was only .017s slower than my winning run and would have put him in second (he took fourth which is his best finish this season).

Got lucky driving in the 3rd heat, with the track finally drying out. Might have had fastest 86 time today, but only good enough for 4th in DS. Bonnie and Gavin were 1st and 4th respectively in Novice. Great job by all, especially the STX guys running 1st heat in the rain!

Hi, I live in Lewisville and I would love to start auto crossing in my FR-S. If I am positing on the wrong thread, I am sorry. Where can I get started to find out the best info other than using my Bing-jitsu?

Best way to start is to attend a local event, talk to the drivers, and do some ride-alongs. Here's the local calendar: http://dfwautocross.com/. There are 2 events this coming weekend: NTAXS (http://www.ntaxs.com/) at the TMS bus lot and Equipe Rapide (http://autocross.com/) at Lone Star Park. You can always Google/Bing autocross and watch videos on YouTube, or if you're a reader pick up a book or 2 from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/How-Autocross.../dp/1613250231.

NTAXS is full, so you can come and watch/ride along (I'll be there and am more than willing to show you around, give you some rides, and help you out). Equipe Rapide doesn't have an attendance cap, so you can register for that event.

If you are unmodified, 13-16 twins are in DS and 17+ are in CS. If you have modifications, list them and we'll help you figure out your class (you can compete in the Novice class, but you still need a base class for PAX handicaping).

I used to be a LEO and we used to have to set up our driving courses, so I have done a lot of cone course driving and I always scored a perfect score on the written driving exams. I was really good at the aggressive driving, but I sucked in the crown vic doing low speed driving (NEVO).

I just got some new 450 lb-in (8k) springs in, that should help stiffen up my soft suspension (this is as stiff as I can go without re-valving). The original springs were 6k, the new springs were recommended and run by the Racecomp Engineering guys who ran the same setup for awhile on their BRZ.

I've decided to hold off on installing them until after the COTA event, I don't want to try learning a new setup and track at the same time.
