Boosted Gen1 vs. Gen2

Not sure if this has been talked about yet. I have a turbo 2017 brz that I am in love with, yet I still find myself toying with the idea of selling it for the new generation.

Has anyone jumped ship from a boosted first gen to a second gen? Or have any opinions comparing the two? Obviously modified cars can vary wildly, but I'd still love to hear some thoughts

Thanks Gents

I have a turbo 17, and a (very stock powertrain) 22.

What do you want to know?

If I recall, Best Motoring recently had a boosted 1st gen vs a stock 2nd gen. The boosted 1st gen was faster, but not by much.

The impression it gave me was how amazing the 2nd gen would be boosted. I can link it here if you'd like so you hear their thoughts on it, though it's subtitled.

Which one do you prefer to drive? And what do you feel the new generation improves on over your modified first gen?

The boosted car was an automatic making 260Bhp and the Gen2 in the review isn't far off that stock and was a manual. It was a mismatched review for entertainment only.

Depends on my mood really, and that's not really a fair comparison, since theyre both modified differently.

The 2022 is way more comfortable since it has the CSG FLA on it, whereas the 17 currently has motorsport damper on.

The 22's power in town is totally usable, and is really fun to stay flat in corners.

The 17's turbo powerband is satisfying for pulls, but can't be used as readily.

This!! As much as I love Max Orido, he is on there to sell his products. They know the next platform to build aftermarket parts for is the new Gen 2. Bros, nothing is unbiased. He trying to sell us fuses and tell us it makes his car pull harder but never explains why. The show was fun to watch no doubt but it's just entertainment. Good observation.

Search it. On a stock car in Japan perhaps the fuse could do something on the street. But it would do nothing over here or on a modded car. So ignore it or I could sell you this little turbine thing that you put in your intake and makes car pull like a V8.
