There is probably at least going to be holes left to fill if removed.

I feel like the rear looks good but it looks out of place as coat mentioned, especially given the smooth sides of the car.

The way it reads only the manuals are getting the HP bump? So that is in the tune.... Why wouldn't they all get it?

I don't know...I kinda like it. like @Tcoat said, I'll reserve judgement until I see one in person. With regard to the front bumper, what do you want to bet the aftermarket people will be licking their chops planning replacement bumpers?

All in all, it looks better than I thought it would.

The ONLY thing I'm not crazy about is the mid fender badge. Hopefully it is just stuck on with tape and easily removed. Wheels, take it or leave it.

Good job Toyota!

The HP increase what is it actually from and why even bother? Substantial increase would have been great, but that is like.... who cares.
The spartan steering wheel is one of my favorite parts of the car. Even if mine is peeling.

Hopefully they can keep it simple, steering wheel controls arent the end of the world and not heavy but could be a slippery slope of adding weight in the name of comfort and convenience.

That's where I stand on the whole thing, although in the end, it doesn't matter what they do I probably wouldn't rebuy anyway. I have never bought the same model twice, with the exception of two Chevy Astro family haulers that were purchased 10 years apart.

In the end, if purchasing for the first time, none of this would have kept me from buying it. What I'm most "afraid" of is the price. I'm guessing it will jump up above what I'd be willing to pay for this car in this configuration.

My mind could change too I'm human after all, but on the surface this update will draw more buyers which is a goal for Toyota and the 86 line.
I will say in all fairness that I am judging based upon a render not an actual picture. Renders can exaggerate angles and shapes due to the artificial nature of the lighting and shading. The real thing may not have those things that I dislike quite so evident or pronounced. I shudder every time I look at that front end though.

Will have to see the interior before I decide what I think of that. Personally not sold on it by the description and the thought of silver stitching scares the crap outta me. May look fine though.

Based solely on what I see now, if this is what is available in 3 years when I am shopping for a replacement I will be looking elsewhere. I place a lot of importance on the body style of my cars and could not live with that droopy nose.

I hope they're like they were on the Caliber SRT4, where the volume and preset / source buttons are on the back. Super simple design, right where your hands are anyways and very intuitive. Never had anything better, although I don't know how it would work with the paddle shifter autos.... so probably not

Only the manuals are getting a change in gearing, the hp bump is both drivetrains I thought.

Also, I doubt the price increase with be anything more than what the 86 is selling for currently elsewhere. Perhaps the usual model year bump but that's it. They won't list this at 30k, it's not worth it and their sales are already not the best.

I am still baffled as to why they have not introduced a TRD SC or something like they did with the tC for this car. A factory authorized add on would go a long way to appeasing at least some of the more power guys and not drive the price up at all for the rest.

I think there were just a lot of issues from the TC SC and wonder if that's why they didn't bother. Seeing as these cars can handle power relatively well though, it would be a nice option and way for them to make a couple extra bucks. Even a 30-50hp bump would be appreciated by many, and be rather safe.

On the manual version of the car, additional performance comes from a gear ratio change and a torque increase to 156 lb.-ft, as well as a five-horsepower increase to 205 hp

That's from the press release. Does it not read like that is the gear change and bump in power only for the manual? Maybe I'm reading it wrong.

Guys, I'm more interested in the transmission than the rest of the car. Is it going to be changed enough that autocross guys are gonna be picking transmissions off of these new cars for that small advantage from better gearing? Will it magically be able to cope with the 400 lb/ft that the FI crowd throws at it? Is the auto changed as well?

Find out next time on Dragon Ball Z!

You're right it does. I must have misread it. That seems strange to me though, and I wonder if they just worded it poorly. I guess we will have to just wait and see lol
