Greetings- name is Mike. Been lurking for a few years, bought a 2017 BRZ Premium manual a year ago to replace my S2000. Needed a back seat so I could drive the kids to school in the fun car. I've been tinkering with cars for 25+ years, swapped a few engines, have done some major car surgery, cut my old Civic in half with a Sawzall in 14 minutes flat, and generally don't think anything is impossible given enough creativity.

Mechanical engineering background, so I see everything through the lens of a techie.

Looking forward to meeting people in person so I can explore what mods I want to do to my BRZ. Nothing too crazy- I'll leave all the crazy to non-dailies. I learned that lesson a LONG time ago.

So far, all I have on the car is my old S2000 wheels and tires, and a lot of dirt. Before anyone calls BS, they're 17x9 +63 TSW Nurburgrings with 255/40 Bridgestone S-04s on them, sitting on 25mm thick 5x100 to 5x114.3 adapters. Basically, this is one more confirmation that 255/40-17 on 17x9 +38 fit just fine on the stock suspension. There's some UGLY poke, but it doesn't rub anywhere through the travel or turning envelope, and it's way better than running the stock wheels and tires, even if it's a bit too much stick for the stock suspension.

I'm looking to turn all my old S2000 mods into cash to buy equivalent mods on the BRZ. Suspension, brakes, wheels/tires, then some booooost. Maybe subwoofers in the rear seat side panels.

Anyway, hi.

New here? Come say hi =)

Hello everyone! 2019 86 TRD SE owner here! Prior to wife and kid, I had a 95 S14 with a SR20DET. Sold it to relocate. Now I'm older and have been itching to drive a spirited car again and this forum is very active! I hope to chat more with you all!

How's the fender gap with the 255/40 on stock suspension?

Howdy, all. New member here. Glad I found the recall thread on the 2013's (that's what brought me here).

I see a few of you rolling around Aurora/Naperville areas and am diggin' the casual head-nod as we pass by each other.

Carry on.

Maybe an inch more than an even gap in the front, and an inch and a half over even gap all the way around in the back. Once I'm home in a day or two I'll measure with a ruler. I like my gaps to be even all the way around the tire- not too low, but just enough to look right in my eyes.

Hello all! I purchased my 2014 MT FR-S last Sunday. I sold my '08 Hummer H3 Alpha in order to get my FR-S and i'm loving the change. I'm from Houston and actually purchased the FR-S from fellow forum user LumpyChump.

Hello all! I came from the miata world and just sold my AP2 S2000 to pick up this 2017 Toyota 86. I purchased it just over a week ago and already have put over 1200 miles on it. I took her up to the dragon and fell deeply in love with this chassis. I'll be trying out new wheels soon that will likely up the grip level a tad but I'm hoping to keep the enjoyment of the nimble stock setup. I've got plans to put a lot of track miles on this car while keeping it as an enjoyable daily driver.

If you're in or near Atlanta hopefully I'll get a chance to see you around!

Just wanted to say hello to everyone here.

I'm picking up a 2016 FR-S in Oceanic with under 15K tomorrow. Pretty excited about it. I plan on doing a lot with this car over time, but for now I will be focused on putting my stamp on it, adding lightness where I can, and mostly making a good daily that I could take to the track. I leave near Portland International Raceway and intend on doing their Performance Driving course so I can do a track day and really drive my car as fast as I can.

I work as a Mechanic and my shop fixes all years, but focuses on vintage American cars. We also specialize in electrical stuff. I've been wrenching for over 10 years now and I am gonna toot my horn and say I'm pretty good at what I do. I like doing aftermarket electrical stuff and running wires and making peoples ideas and visions a reality for their project cars.

I'm also into photography, so hopefully I can eventually do some documenting of jobs and whatnot that will help people tackle stuff they might be hesitant to do.

All in all, I'm just another fan of the car. Nice to meet you.
