Amateur Stealth 10" Build

I can't begin this thread without first giving a sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone on this forum for being the first to do everything I've done and silently providing me with the knowledge, insight, and expertise needed to do this install myself. I started with a set of requirements:
1. Don't lose any trunk space. Let's face it, we can't afford to lose much.
2. Keep the budget reasonable. Sure, I did the install myself (with help from my amazingly talented father-in-law), but only so I could spend more money in parts and material.
3. Make sure the wife doesn't kill (or seriously maim) me for spending more time with the car than I do her. She's little, but she's loud.

After reading nearly every post on this forum, I decided on a materials list. First, the head unit. I knew from research that no mainstream unit was going to make me happy, so I went with the T7019A Android unit from TradeSolutions:

After rooting the device per the wonderful explanation by @2forme, I knew it could fit the bill. Next, POWER. I wanted a small footprint and lots of power, so I went with the Apline PDX-V9:

Next, I'm more interested in sound quality than boom, so I chose the JBL MS-62C Component set. I'm really pleased with the choice:

Now time for the sub. Since it's a stealth install, we keep it small, but performance-minded. Welcome to the Rockford Fosgate shallow sub series. This thing rocks!:

So, after spending nearly my entire budget (with just enough left over for MDF, carpet, and adhesive), I took a few days off of work and here's what we did.
First, the goods:


Next, remove the door cards and begin sound retardation:










Next, we ran the cable according to nearly every audio install thread - believe me, I paved no new ground...








We built a tray that fit in the spare tire well to be used as an amp rack:




Meet Mike, the genius behind the madness. We built a box to Rockford Fosgate volumetric specs for the subwoofer:





The "shelf" around the box is what we secured the circular amp rack to...


We secured the amp rack and mounted the electronics:




Added some sound FatMat to the spare tire well...


Securing the box to the car...






In the trunk with cabling roughly run...








Make the cables as neat as I know how to make them...


Cutting a decorative plate to go over everything:






This is a friction fit - no binding necessary.


The top plate - naked. It's 3 pieces and removes very easily:

Mounting the tweeters was interesting. There were several good ideas, but I couldn't execute any of them well, so I removed the stock speakers, tore the outer basket off of them (rendering them permanently inoperable) and superglued the angle mounts from the JBL mounting kits at an angle facing the driver's right ear.








Created a mount for the fuse near the battery as per several of Simplicity's builds (thanks to @simplicityinsound for the idea and letting me shamelessly steal it!), put the 4 gauge cable in some techflex and I think it turned out okay:








While working with so much MDF around Poe, we invented a new color - meet RavenDust:

There's a cover that goes over it with some screen material. I'm not near the car, so I can't show you, but trust me, it's cool!

I hope this post help at least one of you out there who are trying to decide what you want to do.

From a performance perspective, I didn't install a DSP, and the EQ abilities of this head unit are pretty limited, but I think that given what's there, it sounds pretty darned good. It's got a REALLY bright front stage from the tweets, a STRONG mid-line, and an impressively mellow but gutteral back-kick. I lost .75" of height in the trunk, I stayed on budget, and I grin ear to ear every time I start the car.

I love my T7019A as well but you've taken the install to the next level.

Check the android thread for @GreenPants boot logos and boot animation. He Leo has a new system.img file to do it automatically if you want to root it again.
