My buddy Randy designed the 370z!?!

I haven't seen Randy in several years so this is news to me. I knew he worked at the Nissan Design Center here in SD off Genesse but Randy Rodriguez designed the 370z! WHOA!!

We used to call each other RR(double R's) because he had a CBR600RR and I had my ZX6RR.

Was/Is he into vampires?
Those fangs are the only complaint I have on the 370.

I haven't seen or talked to him in years. The Nissan Design Center is right there on the corner of Genesse and Campus Point Drive just across the street from La Jolla Country Day H/S.

It's weird b/c used to be hidden w/vines and sat partially below the ground making it low key.

Saw this other article on Import Tuner too so you can sort of see how the building looks like

Quote from the interview: "Actually, the Discovery Channel had Shark Week going on while I was working on the 370, and I took a lot of inspiration from that."

Could explain them...

I believe he's from there and went to a very well known Art School up in Canada but not sure which one. I met him back in 05 ish b/c he used to ride with the group from UCSD and has been in SD @ the Nissan Design Ctr.

He's a very down to earth and makes me wonder what other cars he designed and what's in store for Nissan sportscars. :happy0180:

I looked it up, he's from Surrey, BC, (basically a Vancouver suburb like Burnaby) which is traditionally known for car thieves rather than car designers.

Awesome that he made it in the 'big-leagues'!

It's always amazing to hear that about Vancouver. The reason is how close the shitty Downtown East Side (Canada's worst drug and poverty area) is to all the pretty tourist bits of Vancouver.

Are you good buddies with Randy?

That's how it is here Southern California. You'll have patches of very nice areas then a stones throw away, a ghetto area.

I haven't seen nor spoke to Randy in years to be honest. The thing with sportbikes, it's like a brotherhood. You pass a guy going the other way, he'll throw a peace sign, you're at the gas station, he or she will strike a converstion. I met so many people just from riding. We hung out with a bunch of guys n gals who shared the same thing, sportbikes and riding!

We rode the canyons, went to track days, helped our buddy's race (WSMC or WERA) for like 7 yrs but we all kind of lost contact. I want to get a hold of him and see what's going on. I'm sure a few of the other guys we all rode with have his contact.

Here are some pics.

1)group meet up @ the Shell Station/In N Out for canyon rides (Sean and Randy and I'm some where in the back)
2)another group meet @ the Shell Station
3)Willow Springs track day group pic(I'm in the back with the blue shirt, Sean in the red and Randy in the gray wearing a hat n shades)
