Pre-configurator configurator

Hi gents (and possibly ladies?),

For the lulz, I think we know enough about this car now (in terms of realistic expectations) to configure the FT86 we intend to buy. Well, that and the fact that Toyota AU have pretty predictable options.

Below is a template. I've included leather trim as an option only because that seems to be an option with most models now. Usual Factory/Dealer options are things like a spoiler, decals, navigation, sound system, security, bigger wheels, tinting, floor mats, headlight protectors, etc.

Colour:
Manual/automatic:
Cloth/leather trim:
Would upgrade for aero parts: Y/N
Factory/Dealer options:
Aftermarket:
Budget:

Here's mine!

Colour: Gun metal silver (open on this though)
Manual/automatic: Manual
Cloth/leather trim: Depends on the price split, wouldn't mind leather.
Would upgrade for aero parts: Probably not, they usually want too much $.
Factory/Dealer options: Floor mats, spoiler if it's not wanky, tinting, and maybe a few other little things. Factory LSD if it's not standard and is an option.
Aftermarket: If I can't get them to upgrade the mags as part of my deal, this is probably where I'll go. Might do aero parts too when it runs out of warranty.
Budget: They told me around $35k for a base model at the motor show in Melbourne, and I don't know if I can afford too much more than that at this stage. Might be able to push it to 40k.

Colour: Red, whichever shade Toyota puts out
Manual/automatic: Manual
Cloth/leather trim: Leather
Would upgrade for aero parts: Y/N: Of course! Must have the rear wing, other ones (lip, sideskirts, rear pods, etc.) - most likely.
Factory/Dealer options: Floor mats, top-range audio system, most likely factory tints (depending on the darkness, otherwise will get aftermarket), stiffer springs if there is a factory option.
Aftermarket: Exhuast, Wheels (most likely)
Budget: No budget, yet.

This will be my first new car (if I get one new), and the car will be used as my daily driver, so while I love the idea of a sports car, I also want the luxuries that all of the dealer/factory options bring. I don't want to install things like aftermarket headunits or GPS systems (hence the top-range audio system) because it ruins the stock-like look of the interior IMO. I don't mind going all-out on the budget, because I try/plan to keep all of my cars for a long time, so the difference it makes in the long run, compared to the benefits, are worth it, IMO.

I think the wing is self-explanatory, given I own a Supra

wowow 40k$ budget for this car!

normaly we europeans have to pay the same amount of money for the same cars - only in euros. i'm not going to pay 35-40k€ for a 200hp sportscoupe.
the hyundai coupe 3.8 goes about 26k€. i'll definitely prefer the hyundai.

I'm all about go, not too concerned with show. Suspension, brakes and tires have to be at an acceptable level.

Colour: A color that the cops won't notice
Manual/automatic: Manual
Cloth/leather trim: Cloth (it's lighter in total weight, right?)
Would upgrade for aero parts: Probably not. I rarely go aero in a car.
Factory/Dealer options: a/c (I live in Cali, bro). [I'm assuming the car has LSD standard]
Aftermarket: A tastefully designed t-shirt would be nice.
Budget: Low as possible.

You're in the Australian section mate.... we get screwed BIG TIME!
$40k is on the cheap really, this is the same price as a standard WRX over here.

For a comparison, an Audi TTS quattro over here cost $110k!

Another thought: I wouldn't mind if there were no options. In other words, I wouldn't mind if the manfacturer decided what they wanted the car to do, and then built the car to do it.

This is a "Here's your car. Pick your color and shut up." approach. Not for everyone, but, even so, you can still do aftermarket.

Colour: Dark blue, agonised over this. The black gives me the horn, looks like the batmobile from the right angles but want TRD kit with the black accents and on a black car the impact is wasted. So it was chosing between dark grey and blue. Dark grey is teh sex, but I think in a few years the dark blue will age better once this rush on Audi's and eurotrash passes.

Manual/automatic: manual

Cloth/leather trim: whatevers cheapest, one of the few aftermarket mods I'll put in are bride seats.

Would upgrade for aero parts: Y/N : Yes, TRD bodykit & exhaust, except for the shopping trolley spoiler, piss that off and replace with the TRD duck tail. A little bit of a z4ish vibe to the bum maybe but complaining about that is like complaining your GF reminds you too much of Alizée. If you have nfi what I'm going on about,
but if you click, dont come complaining to me about drool on your keyboard.

Factory/Dealer options: TRD bodykit, quad exhaust, climate control and keyless, and later upgrade Suspension & brakes. Want to use TRD wherever possible, using aftermarket from other brands one should double the cost of any mods because that's at least how much they lose from the cars resale. Climate control isn't particularly hardcore, but I'll go there to avoid repeatedly having "that" conversation with female friends about why they should put up with having a sweat moustache in order to save a couple of kilos on the curb weight.

Aftermarket: Bride seats. Will be agonising over rims. Almost all aftermarket rims I see on cars look worse than the stocks, but the stockies I've been seeing in the pics are pretty freaking average, they've really got that "picked out from the local tyre shop" feel to them... just no unity to the lines of the car. Body-kit and paint though, absolutely no fast and the furious crap, made that mistake once with a S13 during the height of the craze, now-adays all I can do is look at it and think of how less is more. Same with supra's and most Jap cars... a very mild body-kit and well presented paint are key to preserving the cars good looks.

Budget: 40-45k. Want to buy as many extra's up front as possible, pretty strongly of the opinion that modifying this car could ruin its charm, that being the case I want everything covered by warranty!
