I totally disagree. They are nowhere near as bad as they used to be. It takes some adjusting to get used to it but it isn't anything like the old school ones that made cars almost undriveable.

I will concede the point I have not tried one since 1998 but do not understand how the physics would have changed since then.
What can be different about them that removes the issues?

For a street use I wouldn't want the lightest option which for many seems to be around the 10 pound mark. Stock is 20 pound range from sources on here.
If stock is 20 pounds, knocking off 5-7 would be reasonable to keep some drivability.

Avo flywheel is 15 pounds and comp clutches is 12.6.
15 seems about perfect to me and 12.6 seem like next best for a street setup.

I've ran a 7 pound fidanza flywheel on my integra and it was a bit much for daily. Compared to stock Weight of 18 pounds.

12 lbs is fine for daily driving. I've got the Exedy 12.7 lbs one right now. Just don't pair it with an aggressive clutch and it works great.

I am looking at getting the Exedy lightweight flywheel later this year. Did you need to get your tune adjusted for the flywheel?

Two things. The first is the flywheels are not anywhere near as light as they used to be. I remember seeing 5 and 6 pound flywheels back then. Even the lightest now is about 12 pounds. The second thing is the clutch is so much better. You can get an aftermarket clutch the drives just like stock and can handle an extra 100 pound feet of torque. No more clutches that feel like you are driving a dump truck.

No changes needed with my OFT 4.03 e85 tune. I haven’t tried it with stock tune.

I’ve never had negative impacts from FWs down to 12. I’ve never had any lighter that that but I’d imagine negative impacts to casual driving would start there. The only negative thing I can think of is no more tail waging shifts to 2nd which really isn’t a negative thing in my eyes.

Is it this one ?

https://www.counterspacegarage.com/c...ch-system-fa20

Any chatter or judder @ idle, 2000rpm or other rpm?

Is the clutch heavier?

How do you like it as daily driving vehicle in traffic?

Thanks!

That is the one I would have purchased but OS Giken recommended their htr single because I track my car.

The pedal pressure is a bit heavier but there is much more feel so I find it easier to use. I also have the mtech clutch spring which I highly recommend!

There is no noise or shudder at all when the clutch is out, when the clutch is in it make the iconic Os Giken ringing noise from the floating pressure plate.

I would imagine the one from CSG would be even better for a daily then the one I have, I wish you lived closer as I would let you try it.

Just for perspective my 62 year old mother has no complaints driving my car!

Most folks who jump into my car with a STR pressure plate have zero issues driving it.

Also, I bet the CSG version didn't exist at the time you purchased, as the CSG single is a very new release, and specced out to try to fit as wide a range of "typical modification" 86's as possible, whereas the CSG twin disc was specifically made for high hp applications and track specific applications that didn't have any highly specialized clutch options at the time.

Yeah it will be a year in March since it was installed. I am currently looking at their differentials, if they are anything like the clutch is should be another step in the right direction for my car. Do you have a CSG spec differential setup?

+1 on this

By the time I purchase the clutch, I want to order the CSG Spec 1.5Way OS Giken Diff (if available) as well.

It's not a CSG spec differential, but rather, each LSD ordered from CSG has the option of being configured to match the driving discipline the car is used for, along with the tires used, suspension, and power output of the car. In some cases, aero is also taken into consideration.

In this instance, a CSG spec doesn't make sense, since it wouldn't work for everyone, or even a wide range of users.

OS Giken LSDs are currently backordered, but the next batch on order by CSG arrive at the end of March. At that time, each unit is opened up and configured as needed before shipping.
