California 1960s legacy plates are available.

If you order the sequential plates, they are 6 digits and typically in the format of x123x4

Custom plates are sometimes cute, but cost more each year in car taxes in California.

I believe in paying as little tax as possible.

Registration (car tax) for my Lotus was $800/year in California with standard plate. Don't miss that. Now $35 for 2 years in Idaho.

i also like my plates to be as inconvenient to remember as possible. plausible deniability that another blue car did that to them!

I think my legacy plate only costs $40 extra per year. I don't mind paying that kind of fee

Granted, I chose a mature baseball word for mine.

Not, uhhh.. let's think of a couple different ones I saw today:

* "HUGSY" (on an M-car IIRC too)
* "POWRMOM" or something along those lines on an SUV

I think the black plates are cool for guys with 60's muscle cars. Before they came out, you had to find someone selling a good vintage set on eBay and pay them a fortune to transfer. However, I think the black looks out of place on a modern car. Just my opinion.

One of my favorites I saw back in the 70's was : XUSNE1

The extra cost per year is used for specific purposes based on the plate design.
