I believe the JR oil cooler bolts to the bottom of the crash beam right? I'm not entirely sure that would work. The intercooler bolts to the crash beam and hangs underneath it. You could relocate it to the same location I have here.

See my oil cooler here in front of the condenser.

Injectors are highly recommended. A friend of mine tuned with pump gas on stock injectors and was at about 85% duty cycle on the port injectors and the tuner didn't want to take it any further because of this. So he ended up getting new injectors. I'd recommend that too.

Pump not needed until you're going far beyond 350whp.
Thanks alot, your post was very helpful and gave me a good idea on how to setup the cooler, also which cc injectors do you recommend? 850cc or 1000

That depends on your power have goals. I have 770cc and I don't believe I've ever passed 50 percent duty cycle on the port injectors. Basically; 770cc is way more than I need for my setup, even when I run higher boost on 101 octane.

Power goals are low 300 for now, mid 300 or so later down the road

Hello Tony,

We have only confirmed fitment of our oil cooler kit on our turbo setup.

Here is the link to the PTUNING oil cooler kit:

@ptuning, what is the recommended weight ( and/or brand) motor oil for one of your turbo kits? (GTX2867R)

I would run whatever oil you use for your car NA, as long as you use an oil cooler and maintain your temperatures. I used 0w20 for most of the year and I'll switch to 5w30 for the 100 degree summer track days.

I would recommend 5w30 synthetic oil, Amsoil or Motul.

Joined the PTuning FI club officially today. Installed and tuned on-site at PTuning on their Dyno Dynamics with Toan.

- 337hp / 265trq on 93 Pump gas (May have been like E14 with what was in the tank)

- 426hp / 337trq on E85 Flex (E73 on this pull I think)

Holy. Crap. I cannot wait to drive this thing. Need to let PTuning road test before the keys are turned over.

Any suggestions for maintenance changes? I'm assuming more frequent oil changes and spark plugs - lol. How is everyone else holding up?

Welcome to the club, it never gets old hitting boost on the PTuning setup. Yes I'd recommend more frequent oil changes along with regular oil level checks. I change my oil every 3,000 miles myself for various reasons - primarily due to aftermarket setup and tune. Spark plugs I've changed once, didn't really need to by the looks of them. Just need to keep a closer eye on everything now and take care of the way you drive it.

I'm about 36K miles in on my turbo kit, everything's running just fine.

You're not kidding. Hearing this thing spool is a treat. The 2867R is so noisy - in the best of possible ways.

Going to put a blanket on it; even though this is mounted low - I can tell a major heat difference. Hood is vented; but it didnt help enough. Also with the turbo being next to the trans... I'd rather have some heat protection.

Anyone else go this route?

Honestly you're fine. No need for a blanket. Me and a couple other Cali guys have already tracked this car and turbo setup - we've found any and all issues that have been addressed with the PTuning V2 and track add-on options such as sway bar shield. Just make sure you have an oil cooler that fits your needs and you're good to go.

I went with the laminova oil cooler, as temps do not get quite as brutal over here as CA for example. I'll still be keeping a very close eye on it.

Like Mike had stated. We do not recommend a heat blanket for the turbo due to it's location which gets plenty of airflow from under the vehicle. The heat you're seeing under the hood is due to the airflow extracting heat from the intercooler. Now you know why we don't want the turbo sitting right in front of the engine giving off additional radiant heat and contributing to even higher under hood temps. In addition, there's a heat shield between the turbine housing and transmission to shield some of the radiant heat away from the tranny.

Ahh, understood. I'll have to let the guys at the shop know.
