BRZ jammed window issue/blinking auto light?

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OivSqN-IwSQ&list=UL"]BRZ window jammed - YouTube[/ame]

This morning is was about 21*F outside (rained 2 days ago and was 61*F) and when I opened my door the windows rolled down, as usual, but did not roll back up and then the 'auto' lights started flashing. They stayed flashing for my entire drive to work. I'm going to check them again at lunch time and I see some potential mention in the manual on page 72:

Quote:
■When the power window does not close normally
If the jam protection function is operating abnormally and a window cannot
be closed, close all the doors perform the following operations using the
power window switch on the relevant door.

Vehicles without a keyless access with push button start system:
After stopping the vehicle, the engine switch is turned to the “ON”
position.

Vehicles with a keyless access with push button start system: After
stopping the vehicle, the push-button ignition switch is turned to
“ON” mode.
Hold the power window switch in the one-touch closing position two
consecutive times.

Hold the power window switch in the one-touch closing position
once again and continue holding for 1 second or more after the window
closes completely.

If you push the power window switch to the opening position while the windowis moving, start again from the beginning. If the window continues to
close but then re-open slightly even after performing the above procedure
correctly, we recommend that you have your SUBARU dealer.
Has this happened to anyone before?

The auto roll down tends to scare me at freezing temps. I haven't had an issue yet but there has been ice on my window and you can hear the ice cracking because of the auto roll. I can't imagine this is good for the motors.

Just happened to me. It's cold (-7 Celcius) and driver window seemed frozen and didn't want to go down. Both "Auto" light switch started flashing and window barely moves up or down (it's gladly kinda stuck in the closed position). Tried the owners manual "fix" listed above but no luck...

Any advice besides calling the dealer guys?

On the FR-S anyway when I had it happen, I roll it down partway, and then roll it up and hold up until you hear a click, about a half second after it stops. Should reset it all.

Please use search next time, I did a search for "window" in the issues section you posted in, and found these two very applicable threads:

So, is there any way to just disable this feature?

Happens every cold morning here I'll have to reset them everytime and it works again. I'll roll the windows all the way down, then all the way up and hold the button for 10 seconds and they reset.

If you get a remote start installed and let the car / interior warm up a little before getting in, you will not have this issue nearly as often / at all.

it's been -13F to -22F and colder here lately .. when I run the car for a bit before getting in I haven't had any issues.

Holy cold! Not so bad here, but my passenger side won't open today (probably frozen) and now the auto-up/down stopped working on the driver's side, though the window operates smoothly when you hold the button.

I posted from my phone via tapatalk, and the search didn't pick anything up. I went to those other threads for a solution though. They are filled with all the info you will need. Fwiw, this has happened twice since this incident and the roll down and back up has worked both times.

The manual instructions make no sense to me...

My FR-S has been having this problem recently so I googled and ended up here. My driver's side control for the passenger side doesn't work, but the passenger's side power controls work fine. The passenger side (and driver's side) has been sliding down. I wonder if this will break one day?

Anyway, good to know you can reset the blinking light. I will try that when I get back in my car.

Yes. There is a thread on it by one smarter than me. It is also quite simple.

Scion wont endorse it, so remember to disable the disable if and when you take the car in for warranty work on the windows.

When I bought the car, I had to wonder how stupid a designer/engineer you had to be to integrate that feature into a car, but that was when I thought that failure meant you could not open the door. That this not the case, door opens fine in the full up position.

Now that I have driven the car in winter and found out what happens when it stays down and you don't notice, I wonder how stupid a car company would have to be not to do any winter testing. You could never convince me that they did.

What exactly is the point of the window rolling down and back up every time you open the door anyways?
