Could be worse, could be Nissan, code for "sporty CVT" transmission.

True. I don't think doing the same to the new 86 would give the same effect.

Anything that is currently the same on both cars that is being changed for the '17 86 will be changed on the Subaru, guarantee it.

Engine/powertrain changes, steering wheel, taillights, silver stitching on the interior, hill assist, and updated rear end ratio will all match between the BRZ and 86 when '17 production starts.

Like the old models, the only differences will be the bumpers, badges, and interior trims. Up in the air will be the wheels, if Subaru will revise their bumpers, and "Grandlux" interior, whatever the hell that is, and I never paid too much attention to headlights so those could match or not, idk. Diverging the two product lines only adds cost. I'll be surprised if Subaru doesn't bring a BRZ to whatever auto show this is debuting at or within the next month or two.

Subaru is known for being cheap, wouldn't be surprised if they don't change anything and just pick up the revised parts off the 'Yota (aforementioned stuff in my second paragraph).

Edit: Forgot spring rates, recent knowledge is that the dampers are the same, springs are slightly different, I suspect that trend will continue.

They will update as well I would expect. Pretty standard stuff at the 3 or 4 year mark for all cars. They don't want to become "stale".

Too bad the triangle LFA-vent things are actually just black plastic.
Would've been cool to offer brake ducts.
The wheels do look nicer though.

This front end could've been worse, but it also could've been much better (even if they'd left it alone). This might be the first time people will want to put a front plate on the car, even if they aren't required to.

That one single word is part of what I will hang my hat on in my theory that the Marketing guys have taken over the aesthetic design aspects of this car. Once you start getting made up crap words like that you know the Engineers are no longer in control of the whole car.
I also think that explains the disappearance of the pistons from the logo. Some Marketing design genius said "why the hell are there two pickle jars on each side of the swastika. Get rid of them. While you are at it move the badges down the fender and make them stick out a bit. The Engineers will hate it".
Also it would take some guy that never touches anything in the real world to think that light coloured "silver" stitching is a good idea in a car like this. I know even if I wash up every time before entering the car the stitching on the steering wheel will be a nice brown or grey in about 2 months. The driver seat will last about a year. The shift boot about 3 days (or until I slop coffee).
